After fishing with my son this weekend and hauling all sorts of gear this weekend I decided I wanted to take the rear seats out too, though I took both out.

How are you feeling about platform a couple months later?

Thanks for sharing :)
Hi Marty,

I love having the seat out. 70 or 80 lbs gone and I like the flat platform available without having to open the rear hatch. Making the platform a bit taller than the floor makes it easy to get things in and brings the load floor up to a wider part of the door. Also makes a nice storage space in the footwell.

Still debating taking the other seat out. My dog can't get in on the side with the platform, so I would have to address that, or just pick him up and put him in.

I swapped my seat back in for a couple days and it takes me about 15 minutes to do the switch, but it is heavy carrying the seats up from my basement lol. Won't do that very often.

Yeah I was also surprised by the weight. I don’t remember the 5th gen seats being that heavy!

Thanks for the feedback. Going to build a similar platform with both seats out so thanks for sharing so many details and pictures!
