Hi All,
I recently bought a 2025 4Runner SR5 4WD and it has 3rd row seats, which I will rarely use. When I bought the 4Runner I wasn’t aware of the loss of cargo space even with the seats down. My bad.
I have seen plenty of 3rd Row Seat Delete products and DIY online for the 5th gen. Doesn’t look like anyone has produced any 3rd party kits for the 6th gen 3rd row yet, maybe due to liability with the airbag sensors?
I did see this thread here which is a nice well done project but need something simpler.
Rear seat delete with platform & storage drawers DIY project (non-hybrid ORP 2025 6th Gen)
I was hoping to find a DIY guide for:
1. Remove the third row seats while not causing issues with the airbag sensors.
2. Create a plywood platform cover with automotive carpet to bolt down over the recessed area.
3. Maybe an include hinged door in the platform cover to allow access to recessed area for additional storage.
Has anyone run across anything like this? I appreciate any info and I’ll keep searching.
