Hello, sorry if this has already been posted, I did search and couldn't find anything.

Is there anything i need to worry about when removing the rear seats of a 2026 trailhunter?
I know there are electrical connections to unplug. Will doing this cause any problems with the system?
Does Toyota have an official procedure for the removal or do they not encourage it?

Thanks
David

no, unplugging does not lead to any warning messages. I purposely kept the backseats unplugged so as to not get the weird backseat warning light every time I start the car.

OK, thanks. Appreciate it. Taking them out tomorrow.

I just had another thought. Yearly car safety inspection.
They check to make sure all the seatbelts function properly. I guess if I don’t have back seats I don’t need back seat seatbelts.

Removing the rear seats will trigger persistent error codes and notifications on your dashboard.

Not my experience, have them out for months, no issues. Had it to the dealership for 15K service, no issues.

Scratching the paint. They are heavy and bulky and don’t go in and out of door super easy.

Can you pull them out the back?
Didn't try mostly because I had a drawer blocking it. I would say yes. I would just tape something over the mounts to avoid it.

the driver side rear seat was super easy to remove, took 5min tops. The passenger side one is cumbersome and alot easier 2 people.

They are heavy, but I was able to pull out the 2nd row seats without doing any damage. I did use a wheeled transport to move them into my storage shed.
