I have a limited with the felt skid plate (or had). Removing the chin and replacing the felt piece of material was one of my first mods. My main criteria... ease of oil changes. Removing the skid on the 5th gen the plus the plastic filler panel was something I always looked forward too....(plus the canister...). I was going to eliminate this step for my new 6th gen.

Thus... #RCI. Not only does it protect the under carriage, it is easy to do oil changes. Plus... it looks great (looks plus functionality).

I've installed the Fumoto F133S valve (been doing that for the last 20 plus vehicles) for ease and zero spill oil changes. I have a small funnel (pictured) with a home made Tide detergent receptacle.

This was my first oil change with the RCI and Fumoto. It was a pleasure with zero drops on the garage floor or the cross member.

Toyota was kind enough to put an indention/trough for the oil filter drain path. This works great unless you use ramps like most of us do. The slight angle can and does spill oil on the cross member when the truck is on ramps. I use a small funnel directing into a hacked Tide detergent liquid container to capture the oil from the filter.

Fumoto magic

For the F133S you need this: https://www.fumotousa.com/sh-10.html plus 3/8" ID plastic tubing.

That will channel the oil (remove the top oil fill cap to increase flow) into your desired recepticle. And for those questioning the Pella 6k pump... Yes. I have used the extraction method and it works great on this engine. But since I'm underneath for the oil filter this method is faster.

This is literally over a decade old, but still functional.

The RCI skid gives you space on the side to get an oil filter wrench on the filter to break the seal. Then use your hand to unscrew while holding your funnel to direct the oil.

Side view. Ample space to unscrew the filter while keeping the skid plate attached to the truck. The nice little access panel they give you will work great if you have a lift... but using ramps the oil will flow back and hit the cross member. But still, removing 2 screws for an 8" panel and using a funnel/redirection method beats removing the entire skid plate.

Zero drops on the floor. Took 45 mintues from truck on ramps to truck off ramps. And was fun plus I know my oil filter is not torqued to 90 ft-lbs.

Some beauty shots of RCI's workmanship

Looks great! Checking out some skid plates myself but haven't read into specs yet. What are the specs of the RCI plate/limits of the plate?
