I’d like you to consider Cobb.

I went with CAMTuning after an hour long phone call with him discussing expectations. Cam bends over backwards to ensure you are happy and he works directly with you to maximize the potential of your 4Runner.

it’s pointless for me to try to convey how amazing the car drives. It does but you can’t feel that through words. Instead, please let me explain why I chose CAMTuning over OTT.

1. CAMtuning works directly with your data and he responds fast and makes revisions within a business day. Since the beginning of our working relationship he has made 6 revisions in total.

2. You receive a device that allows you to real time data of your cars internals. The accessort can report up to 6 metrics that you can watch in real time.

3. You can reflash your car to stock before you can take it to the dealership. It takes 2 minutes. You don’t need to drive anywhere or book appointments. It happens in the comfort of your garage.

4. Cam will work with you to make the 4Runner run in the way you want. You do need to purchase his custom plan, but I can promise you he works tirelessly to get it going the way you want. And if you ever need to make changes in the future after the custom tune is done, he only charges a nominal fee that I believe is extremely reasonable.

5. SXTH element (who makes intakes and intercooler) work directly with CAMTuning as well.

6. Nick from FASTASFK, who is developing a turbo kit for the platform, works directly with CAMtuning as well.

7. Cam himself has almost two decades in tuning experience. He knows what he is doing.

ill invite @CAMTuning to come in and speak more to his skill
You think it is worth double the cost of the OTT?

For me yes. I paid for the ease of reflashing and revisions. I like that I can reflash it whenever I would like. I have control of when I want a more aggressive tune or a more mild and controlled one. It’s all saved on the accessport.

also as a counterpoint, accessports resell here for 350-500 USD depending on the model and they move pretty fast. If I ever did end up selling the car I could recoup some of that cost.

correct me if I’m wrong, but with OTT every flash is an appointment right? Even if the reflash was free, that is time I’d have to spend every time I needed to make a change (like before bringing it to Toyota)

Just to clarify — everything you mentioned as reasons for choosing CamTuning over OTT can also be accomplished with OTT, whether through the Accessport platform or in-person tuning, and typically at a lower cost with significantly more Toyota-specific experience.

Not taking anything away from CamTuning’s overall tuning background, but when it comes to deep knowledge and understanding of these Toyota platforms, no one matches @JustDSM. There’s a reason you’re already on revision 6 or 7.

OTT is also partnered with COBB, offers fully custom tuning, and doesn’t charge for future adjustments. So everything you outlined as benefits is exactly what OTT provides — with more Toyota-focused experience, better value, and proven results.

Trust in OTT.

You do realize that everything you have stated as to why you chose CamTuning over OTT can be achieved by OTT with Accessport or in person tuning at a less expensive price with far more experience with Toyota specifically. Not knocking CamTuning tuning experience but there’s no one out there with the knowledge and understanding of these Toyotas the way @JustDSM does. Why do you think you are on your 6-7 revision?
OTT is partnered with COBB as well. They have custom tuning as well. OTT also doesn’t charge for future adjustments. So everything you just wrote out is exactly what OTT provides, with more experience, less expensive and best results. Trust in OTT!!
I didn’t know that thank you.

can you point to me where FastasFk or Sixth Element have partnered with OTT as well?

Cam is already testing and tuning with a new downpipe from Nick and some kind of turbo inlet part from SXTH Element.

If companies and innovators are trusting Cam, that works for me.

if OTT is your pick I am sure he can do all the things that Cam can, sure, I just like working directly with the person behind the brand. That to me is worth it. OTT is great and I’m glad it’s working out for you

Is there something wrong with rewriting something you didn’t like the way you wrote the first time? After all I wrote that’s what you nitpick about. Strange to avoid the context

we could go back and forth on this.

if you read the blog post, they say CAMtuning is the solution.

either way let’s not make this thread about us. The OP wanted opinions on both companies and it’s clear that both are great options. Toyota is lucky to be getting this kind of aftermarket support.

you can not go wrong either way with either tuners

Both options definitely better than stock! Just hate to see misinformation that OTT doesn’t have custom tuning, OTT doesn’t have a Accessport option, etc. just want people to have the facts. Competition is good for everyone. Just don’t like seeing the wrong information being spread. So just a point of clarification. Sorry if it got to a back and forth.

for sure. Thanks I learned that OTT did too. And if I had known back when I made my decision it could have swayed me!
