OP asked: “What is everyone actually paying for these things…?”

Your cost will depend on supply. I bought a TRD Pro and they were getting snapped up (June 2025) before they left the factory in Japan. So just locating one that was not spoken for and getting it for MSRP was a victory in my mind.

If you are willing to drive or fly to a more distant dealership it might allow you to find what you want AND save you some money. My search was in a radius of 500 miles from my home. The “negotiation” was done by phone. The drive home with the new vehicle allowed me to get some break-in miles done right away!

Also: the previous estimate given for full PPF $2K-$3K is low if you are having it professionally done. That service will run you at least twice that amount.

I think this depends on the rate of return of your cash vs cost of vehicle depreciation and interest. If your cash would make a higher return invested then it makes sense to invest vs lose that income to a depreciating asset. You would offset the difference from financing by your investment gains. As I understand it.

As for me, I got an SR5 with third row for $43k, financed just under 30k and kept the rest of my cash for my investments. I have a 4.75% interest rate from Toyota Financing.
As a person in finance, I would even go a step further and say the depreciation does not matter as it stays the same whether you pay cash or finance it; you lose the same amount each year under either scenario. Your cash investment is making you 10%, the car is costing 4.75%, you net 5.25%. You are being very smart with your money!

Whatever you do, do not pay cash for a depreciating asset. Not a smart move. Invest that money is the S&P 500, gain 10% to 15% (on average) on that money and pay the 5% to finance the vehicle. You net 5% to 10% on your money, if not more with compounding interest.
Shit, appreciate the tip. Let me ask my bank for a refund.

You should ask the dealer probably, unless you bought it from the bank which is financing.
My dealer doesn't offer finance but work with local CU for auto loans. The resell value for these 4runner sometimes appreciate or depreciate the least out of all manufacturers.

7. Is the included Toyota maintenance typically hassle-free? (I know it'll depend a lot on the dealership)
A lot of people have weighed in on the other stuff, but I wanted to comment on this: Yes, it depends on the dealer, but you have to understand up front that the "ToyotaCare" free maintenance only consists of oil changes every 10k miles and tire rotations every 5k, up to 25-30k miles.

Some dealers will let you use these freebies whenever (I used my first free oil change at 1k miles, for example) and some won't. But Toyota's not providing enough with it for it to be a dealbreaker either way. Any serious maintenance issue, which you probably won't have in that short period, will be covered by the warranty.

Just wanted to comment that buying a trailhunter and setting aside money for mods before u even have it seems excessive. Its the top level trim for a reason, if i had that trim, id hope and expect I have everything I already need basically… atleast to get into a couple dozen thousand miles under my belt to understand what mods could be useful.

Reason I bought it. Not much to change for me. So far just emblems and tow hooks. Less than $500.

Exactly its good to go out the door offroading/driving wise basically… I also figured those who can afford a TH dont really need to “set aside” money for the mods it needs either unless you are talking huge lifts or overlanding storage setups where that question would not need to be asked. Think a solid 1k$ shopping spree can get the aesthetic tid bits OP might want (like red toe hooks, i got red dome light myself and dash cam) and he doesnt need to wait to save, go enjoy it asap.

What drives me crazy is I want third row for the option when I have to have my entire family of six in the car. I don’t want the limited. So SR5 is where I have to be.

Almost wish i went sr5, threw in 10-15k over time, and had everything i wanted tbh. Still love my car so much, but if i didnt have this trim, pretty positive id go sr5 and mod over the years. I understand the limiteds appeal for families but id just go land cruiser or gx at that point most likely and now you are talking a whole other car price tacked on to sr5 pricing. Cant go wrong on the sr5

I don't really understand today's Toyota. I would own a Pro right now but if I'm going to spend $70k on a vehicle I want a color choice I really like. I looked into wrapping but around here it would cost about $5k (or about $1k a year). So now I'm waiting until 2027 to see what special color they come up with. If I don't like it I might be forced to buy a different Brand (Hello Toyota, wise up).

The TH is out of the question due to the fake snorkel. I can't say I like the bronze colored wheels either. I have to ask, who would take a $70k vehicle through 3 feet of water? Even of the snorkel was water tight there's far too many other things that aren't. Usually under the side of the rear bumper is a vent to let air out of the cabin when the door is closed. Too much electronics inside the cabin to risk it IMO.

It's not a snorkel. It's a high air intake for dust. You can also bypass it and add the TRD Pro intake if you so choose. Or plug it up all together. There's a tread on this forum on how to do it.

I'd never get the TRD Pro due to the gloss and fake hood scoop that shakes driving down the road. I also appreciate the stuff you get thrown in with the TH you have to pay for with the Pro. Rock rails, air compressor, e.g.

Wheels are easily replaceable, though I really like them, again, a reason I got this trim. They have many trims. Something for everyone. Or like you said, plenty of other manufacturers to buy from. I think Toyota gonna be alright end of the day.

Everyone has different tastes. I don't care for the color of the wheels so why would I want to pay for them. Dust is not an issue around here so why would I want to pay for it and then live with the noise. I could remove it but doesn't the right fender have a hole in it? I do like the green color.

I don't care for the fake hood scoop on the Pro. I had an All Trac Turbo Celica that had a real hood scoop. The scoop directed air through the intercooler that was mounted on top of the engine. It would have been nice if they did that. But I can live with a fake hood scoop over the fake snorkel (high air intake).

I could buy a lower trim and spend money buying the parts needed to turn it into the Pro but why when I can just buy a pro. At some point I will sell it and a pro will have a higher resale value. I will not buy a Pro with a roof rack. Others may love them but I would remove it and then be stuck tryin to sell it.

As I said, everybody has different tastes. If Toyota wants my money they will offer the Pro in a color I like. If they want someone who has owned over a dozen Toyotas (including a Rav4 and Tundra right now) to change brands then that's their choice.
