Hey all. Does anyone else have paint missing on the fender area? I didn’t see it until I opened the door in direct sunlight.

San Francisco Toyota said it’s normal for the off-road premium WTH! I checked the TRD pro in Black and it did not have this issue. Dealers said the Pro is different. We have to pay more for complete paint??

If you have time to snap and photo and list your trim, it would help me and potentially others escalate the case with Toyota Brand Engagement.

Mine is the 2026 Off road premium. Both driver and passenger are like this.

that fade ?...same as in the engine compartment, it is not always 100% coverage
on areas not normally exposed.

but in a door jamb where it is seen all the time when opening doors ?
not ideal imho, I'd press Toyota for resolution

another non caring dealer i see. as stated above engine bay and some unseen under pinnings i can understand, but door jambs i have never seen that before on roughly 18+ toyota's.

its kinda of a weird pattern, like someone sprayed something that ate away the paint since it fades to full paint.

toyota has robotic arms that paint vehicles so its not human error, unless the arm had a hiccup or software glitch.

but it should have been caught in QA inspection before it left the factory actually.

unusual for tahara plant to miss that.

if you can, find a different toyota dealer or send pics/email to toyota directly via the toyota.com/owners portal.

if you havent gotten the dealer score card, give a low rating on them for brushing you off on this issue.

yeah I agree with Nodak. I checked my 2025 underground and all door jambs are complete.
this looks like an anomaly. my engine bay has some areas not fully covered but same as my tacoma, rav4, yaris. but all of those, all door jambs and door openings are 100% covered.

My engine compartment is fully painted.

I have a case with Toyota, however they also said it was normal but gave no reason as to why. I’m hoping to gather more info here to escalate the case.

is it just one side ?? if so, take pics of the other door and the affected door.

if it was normal the other door would also be faded/missing paint.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll reach out to other dealers and see if they have anything similar.

Thanks for checking. Do you mind snapping a pic when you get a chance?

look hard at the firewall, and under the front plastics near radiator supports,
typically these are where you see some fade. but if yours is 100% painted thats great

only thing i can think of is look at other 4runners on the lot. if you can verify other black 4runner have the same issue not just other colors.

but i will be guessing other colors dont have this issue and maybe only your black one has this issue.

its could be just related to the black ones and the paint process (robotic arms programming) might have been stingy on paint in that particular area
