Mildew/Wet Sock Smell after rain/car wash

I've also ozoned the interior, no improvement.

Sounds like we may want to start documenting these smells with dealerships as it may mean water is getting in somewhere that isn't readily detected and could cause issues in the future.

From what I can find googling the fix for the GX550 was to replace the outer "belt moldings" That touch the window. I mean that maybe true? but I cannot find anything about a fix for the 4runner.

Sad days cause honestly the car is fine. It just stinks some days and its kind of embarrassing if someone hops in the car after its rained. I wonder if Tacoma owners have had any problems?

Sadly, I am replying to this thread for visibility because I, too, am experiencing the after-rain smell. It's somewhat comforting to know it's not just me, though. For the record, I do not have a sunroof or an aftermarket roof rack.

nope, with all the air flow you can get with the windows I rarely use the AC.

I've noticed a terrible smell the next day after driving in rain or after a car wash. It smells as though the carpet has gotten wet and developed a wet mildewy smell. It's not the A/C, because after a few dry days the smell does not appear. I've felt all around different areas on the carpet and headliner for damp areas and I have not found the source. Has anyone else experienced this and been able to locate the source?
