Hi all.

I got my rear dash cam installed yesterday (fixed as it was mounted incorrectly by an installer) and during the re routing of the rear cam USB cable, they went through the part where all the electronic wiring harness is and in turn, they accidently broke the plastic snap on sleeve that has a plug/clip that affixes into one of the gromet holes on the upper part of the lift gate. The plastic piece looks like it's part of the rubber accordion cover that plugs into the hatch that has all the wires for the rear electronics on the lift gate.

The writing/part numbers written on the plastic piece shows the following in order:

>PP/PE<
82817-35B90
SN2

I can't for the life of me find this product (here in Canada). I called a parts department at one of the local dealers and they couldn't find it either.

Does anyone have any idea of where I can get this part? I currently cut a circular piece of double sided tape, then added some gorilla glue to the parts in between (not that it touches the paint) and it isn't holding up the greatest as you can see from the pictures.

**UPDATE** I called another local dealer and they say the part is part of a wiring harness kit:

82184-35570 - Wire Back Door Number 1

https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/wire-back-door-no-1-8218435570

But they want like $1500 CAD for this - found on another site for approx $1k, instead of being able to replace a cheap plastic clamp. Any other suggestions from anyone on maybe how to repair this? If I leave it just as is, what are the chances the wires can get pinched between the lift gate and the frame and damage something?

Any help would be apprecaited.

Depending on how broken it is, I would just put shrink tubing over it to hold it together. There seem to be better things to spend 1k on

How would the shrink tubing work or be applied?

The part that’s broken is the clip that holds the thing to the frame. The plastic piece in my images that covers the wiring is perfectly in tact. It’s just a plastic snap on wrap. Hard to explain.

Ah, I was thinking it was the tube that's broken. If it's just the tree that goes into the body, I would look for something like this https://a.co/d/45GLkML where there is a plastic tree w a zip tie on it

Wow this could be a solution if my 3m double sided tape, gorilla glue and black paint fails lol.

Thanks!

My 3m double sided tape, gorilla glue and black paint (car colour) to hide the white tape residue sill is holding up.

I also bought (but haven’t used yet) some utility plastic ties from Amazon - https://a.co/d/4zJoPDL

With the ties from Amazon, you could just wrap around the plastic part to tie it in and put the top portion into the hole of the tailgate that is supposed to hold it in.
