Does anyone have an opinion or comment on Limited trim ride quality with AVS suspension.

I’ve seen mixed reviews on you tube vehicle reviews anywhere from comfortable to not so much on rough payment.

Thanks

i think the problem right now with the 2 trims that have avs, the grandtrek tires need to be removed from the equation and a better tire needs to be installed to give a true assessment.

i have yet to find a toyota luxury suv trim with grandtrek have a good quality ride. once i got rid of them, then that is when the ride quality was on par to what it should have been from the factory.

but that is just my opinion, from have a 2014 4R Limited with grandtrek a20 and this 2025 4R Platinum with grandtrek a20, i think they are complete utter crap tires. will make it thru 1 winter and replace them.

just like i did with my 2014 4R

The ride on my limited has definitely improved the more miles I drive. Just over 3k now and I'm no longer feeling EVERY crack in the road.
I'm wondering about the stock tires a bit, but not yet enough to go drop $1500 on a new set. I had Michelin on my previous 4-Runner with 20" rims and would definitely go back to that tire for street use. Though the more aggressive look of the AT's is tempting.

Hey thanks for the feedback.

Have heard from one other that ride improved after a few thousand miles.

Seems like tire choice has an influence also.

Hmmm

i was looking for a street tire and this one looks tempting, dueler a/t ascent.

its a street tire with the looks of a off road tire, decent reviews on tire rack but it has less than 100 reviews so its sus right now.

its comparable to the defener ltx ms2 which i had on my 2014 and they were great for ND winters.

I had the defenders on my previous 4runner, actually 2 sets. Costco beat everyone's price.
No experience with the dueler.
My Jeep had BFG KO2's, great tire, easily 80k miles on each set, but were terrible in the rain (but the Jeep is pretty lightweight). Its currently running Wildpeak AT tires but isn't a daily driver.

How is the Wildpeak in rain?

that is basically what is keeping me from AT tires, they seem to suck in rain comparing to highway Touring tires.

Wildpeaks on the Jeep are better than the KO2 were in the rain. Maybe a softer tire like a Nitto would be better, on a Jeep the KO2 are quite stiff.
I've heard despite the aggressive look that Toyo MT ride very well. But the stock Toyo doesn't get much love here on the forum.

i think the best bet is to use tire rack reviews and customer reviews on tires you are looking at. the website has come a long way from 10+ years ago for a central location for tire stats and what not.

i would say its more comprehensive than CR since they only deal with tires. could be biased maybe not, but from what i gather its the best 1 place you can get both sides of a tire and how they are.

it will just take time to sift thru all the data they have.

i mean i found new stuff and tires i wasnt even thinking of that may suit my purpose but its still hard to jump ship from tires i have used and are comfortable with.

I have doubts in TR customer reviews, in the end, no one drives the same way. Once can say a tire is awsome, but another will think it is rubbish.
I've got tires that has reviews for 8-9 in wet traction on the review score section and it does not hold up to my standard, I would give it a 3 in wet traction for the same tire, therefore I do not trust fully of that score board. They may be rating it at 30mph while I need it to perform at 60mph in wet, not the same.

I have yet to see official comparison between AT tire wet traction vs high way touring wet traction.
They can rank 8-9 in wet traction in their own category, but comparing the same wet traction to other tire category it may be a 5. If you know what I am saying.

outside of CR, there is no one close enough but the problem with CR is they dont test everything.

you could use the tire rack in house review vs the customer reviews as a base and go from there.

So to answer my own question.

Took a coworker's 25 Tacoma with Wildpeak A/T4 with 5000miles on it for a drive.
Wet traction I will give it a 3, 4 at most compare to the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 that came with the car (and the Dunlop is terrible tire to be compred with)... despite the rating for Wildpeak A/T4 in wet at TR is 8-9.
Not ideal at all.
And I will never ever trust TR rating once more.

My wife has a limited and agree that those Grandtrek tires make you feel everything. She wanted a more aggressive look so put Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT 285/70r17 SL rated on +25 Icon wheels. Not only does it look better, it rides better probably due to larger sidewalls, but would bet replacing Grandtreks had something to do with it also. New tires has slight road noise due to aggressive treads, but not too bad. Also replaced the silver roof rails with a black set. If someone in western washington is interested in the silver rail set, DM me for a good deal with crossbars.
