Here’s Main Line Overland using it in a hybrid Land Cruiser.

Seems exorbitantly expensive for a metal plate and a couple simple posts. I also would not call 2 posts as a "power distribution center," as you have to just pile all the wires on one connector. It works I suppose if you are careful about using all the same type/size crimp connectors, but it would be more prone to loosening over time.

They are used quite extensively in the marine industry

The sPOD installed in that video is not cheap either.

I had an sPOD installed (also by Main Line Overland) and they spent quite a few hours on it. The labor ended up costing me more than the sPOD. I don’t know enough about the procedure to know if they were just clueless or if they were overcharging me on that.

If you are knowledgeable enough to do it yourself, you will save a lot of money.

That’s who I plan on doing some install work for me. Hopefully worth the price as I don’t trust myself with the electrical stuff.

Yep, I feel the same way about electrical installs - especially with a hybrid complicated system.

But if it makes you feel any better, my installation was an sPOD only (no distribution plate) and it was done on a Sprinter van (not a 4Runner). Maybe the job on a 4Runner will be simpler (cheaper!).

I am having them install and-switch panel and with the battery in the rear they are going to have to run it through the SUV. If they do it right, I suspect it’s going to be some work. If I could have someone build all the wiring for me in advance and check it before I close it up, I’d probably try it myself.

Have them look at this picture from a previous thread (“Battery Tender external receptacle install”) as there is a jump start post under the hood in the passenger side fuse box. Forum member gmarcucio used an adjacent post in that fuse box that apparently has 12v from rear battery. MLO may be able to hook up there rather than running a wire through or under the truck interior.

But don’t take my word for it. Let the professionals look at that fuse box!

I have that on my list to ask them. I’ve heard others say that’s not a good place to hook a switch. Like you said, I expect them to have a professional opinion on it. Part of me wants to wait a bit so they work on some other hybrids first and let them be the guinea pig.
