Gobi Roof Rack on Mudbath TRD Pro -
Finally got to installing the Gobi this past week.
Looks? Amazing. Function? Practical. I haven’t used it so far but I did go to church this morning with it on. About - 30 or so mile round trip so I’ll have some short MPG averages for those who care.
Lord willing, we will be taking a cross country trip to the north west from GA/FL area. I intent to post up a more detailed review with practical use later on. Stay tuned.
For those who do ask in the future about mpg, here you go. Don’t hate on them for seeking knowledge. They might not be purchased for gas efficiency, but it’s wise to know what you’re getting into before you commit.
With a stock TRD Pro and an empty Gobi, I was getting about 20mpg on the highway. Around town was about 18-19 with stoplights and traffic (you should get better mpg with a ORP or SR5). Little noticeable increase on road noise within the cab. Nothing that will disturb you while talking on the phone or with passengers.
Definitely helps to have a couple people to carefully get it on top. Very strait forward installation, but I’m extremely OCD about my measurements and knowing it’s all even, so it took me a while.
These are just a few pictures to put out for those that were curious how it looks. I’ll post some actual nice pictures once I get on the trail or at least somewhere more scenic.
From what I could find online this might be the first 6th Gen TRD Pro with a GOBI roof rack.
If anyone is interested in a general recommendation or simple walkthrough on the install, I took some photos along the way. Just let me know in the comments and I’ll post it up as I have some recommendations.
If you want, come join us at church - The Journey Church, Yulee, FL.
Rack Details:
- Stealth Rack
- No Riser
- “Widdle Wadder” (Ladder) should be installed on a latter date.
