Toyota has their 20% sale going on and Im on the fence between the LC250 front and 4R transfer case skids or the RC set. Its about a $300 difference and Im doing sort of a "budget" build since my 4R is not my primary driver.
Family trips, beach driving and light trails will be what it sees the most. Never going to be on any heavy or rocky trails.

For light trails, you don't really need the transfer skid, its tucked up there pretty good.
Good to know.
With the being said, will the RC set be adequate enough for what Im using the ruck for?
I know theyre not as good as other brands, but Im also not going to be a heavy user either the would require the heavier duty plates

The TRD skid is about $335 (Trailhunter $250) and transfer case is about $225....how much cheaper is the RCI?

RC: Rough Country, not the RCI set, sorry

This one: RC Skid Plates

I was going to get the LC skid that just says "Toyota". I have an SR5 so didnt want the TRD or Trailhunter since Im neither 😅

Both plates, skid hardware kit and a few oil filters for $497 shipped.

Sorry I assumed RCI.

If its me, I am still getting the OEM Toyota stuff for $70 more because the TRD skid looks sweet and Toyota engineers know the truck better than anyone. Plus if you shop an out of state dealer for the parts, they don't charge sales tax which makes it about equal in my state. Hardware is $8 and filters are $5.

No one would ever bat an eye at a TRD part on a SR5.

That looks to be the same as the coverage as the OEM front plate. I am not seeing a second plate.

Kind of where I was leaning, but was not 100% sure

Found a dealer with no tax and a good price.

Think Ill pull the trigger on the Toyota one. Seen a bunch on here and I like their look.

Thanks for the input!

I have the Westcott lift so it’s more visible than stock but it looks great when you walk up on it. Transfer case gets skid closer for Christmas if they have a big sale again.

Nice! I might do that as well; get the front skid and wait a while for the next sale to get the transfer case skid to spread the costs out
