Any updates to this thread? AFAIK, none of the 6th gen 4Runners have TJA, because it requires the camera in the instrument cluster, which I don't remember seeing in the 4Runner

TJA seems to be the same as the dynamic cruise control, as it works exactly the same. I have used it and it can come to a complete stop and go again on its own. It can also take mellow turns and keep you centered in the lane. Don't try sharp turns though...

There are some differences. For one, TJA allows hands free up to the max speed (I think it's 40km/h). It also follows the car ahead even if there are no lane markings. Additionally, it allows start from stop for much longer periods of time. For all of those things, the driver attention camera has to be included to ensure that the driver is monitoring the system.

Not sure what you're getting at but the dynamic cruise control does all that as well

I know for sure it doesn't do hands free, and it doesn't do the "follow without lane markings". I don't think it has the extended start timeout, but I don't have my car yet to confirm. You can check the driver assist settings to see if there is such an option. If you don't have it, you don't have that feature. It should require the driver attention camera though, so I don't see how it's possible

DRCC + LTA in TSS 3.0 is essentially the same as TJA. You will need to nudge the steering wheel if your hands are off every 30 seconds or so. You will need to nudge the steering wheel with TJA if you look away. That is pretty much the only difference I have noticed between it. I have used it without lane markers as well, although, not super reliable.

My other vehicle has TJA.

Fair enough! It's too bad the 4R doesn't have lane change assist (afaik). IMO, that's more useful than TJA. Our Lexus NX that we'll be getting rid of for the 4R has it, and we love that feature.

Yep, no lane change assist. I wonder if comma ai or something similar will be compatible with the 6th gen 4runner in the future. That would be nice...

lol you didnt read that paragraph correctly

someone needs reading comprehension. please note the location of the period.

you are mis reading the part about where is starts with TRD Sport and on.

TSS 3.0 features are standard across all trims.

the period then denotes the special features mentioned after TSS 3.0 only inherent into those trims specified.
Someone one else needs writing comprehension, the word is "misreading." :geek:

(I am learning about Midwest "nice". Do you all out there know what that is? Is it real?)
