Everybody realizes your phone is using a lot of power when connected to CarPlay, using Waze and playing Spotify right? Even with 12v charger, I barely get any increase when I’m navigating while streaming.
More power consumption sure, but with the 45W USB-C ports in the center console my phone will go from nearly dead to fully charged in less than an hour even when using CarPlay for music and navigation. On my 2010 rav4 streaming music from bluetooth and using navigation on my phone the 12v adapter would get me fully charged in an hour or less while driving. If you're barely charging from 12v you may need to replace your 12v adapter with something higher output.

I personally think the wireless charging pads in vehicles are a complete gimmick that are just there to check a box so that youtubers won't complain. I'd rather save the $50 or whatever it costs Toyota to put them in. I've tried them in a variety of vehicles and none of them are really worth a damn.
