Had the pleasure to be a featured vehicle in the annual @Diode Dynamics car show and open house this past weekend. Took my 6th gen around the rally course a few times and had a blast!

@ryno was posted up front and center at the show entrance to show off his build as well. If you're near the STL MO area, definitely worth checking out next year. They've got a great scratch and dent garage sale.

Nice! I just installed DD C2 2.0 pod lights too. Did you wire your amber backlight to come on automatically with the vehicle, or do you have to turn it on manually with a switch?

I have them on their own switch. I bought two OEM style switches from @StickerFab and have one tied to the backlight and the other to main power.

Got it. So you have to switch each light on manually? I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out a way to get the backlight function to turn on automatically with my daytime running lights.

That's correct. Personal preference, I don't run the backlight on clear, sunny days. Dawn, dusk, nighttime, or inclement weather is when I typically have the backlight on. I think tying into DRL is tricky since the DRL function is just the headlights on low power. I don't believe there is a separate part of the harness to tap power into, but I could be mistaken. You could always fuse tap into something tied to ACC power, and have a switch somewhere to manually turn them off if needed, otherwise they would be on when the vehicle is on. The backlight function turns off automatically when the main LEDs are powered.

I appreciate your feedback! There are a few ways I can solve this, and tapping into the DRL isn't my favorite, but it's an option.

This looks awesome, I wish I was able to attend or that we had opportunities like this in Canada?!

Oh well either way love what you are doing @Diode Dynamics .

Very cool, would love to have gone in person it looks like a blast and your rig looks super clean!

Did @Diode Dynamics happen to talk about when they'll be putting out kits for the 4runner (specifically hidden grille lights)? I'm dying to get a light bar and some extra 6' yellow bars as fogs up front but so far have only seen the bracket kit from CaliRaised.

I'm about to order the C2 2.0s for ditch lights as well, curious what lens pattern you both went with @ngfilla94 @LFGRTX ?

Do you happen to have the Pre-wired Aux Switches? I was wanting to do the same with my backlights. I haven't fully explored it yet but this caught my eye in the manual - there is a 5th "Aux slot" that is part of the "Power Switch ON Circuit", so my hope is that the white wire on the "A" aux pigtail will do the trick. Was going to give it a try when I get my lights and see if that is how it actually works:

Not specifically, but they own a 6th gen and they have some test fitting going on for their new release bars that should come out later this year. They swapped in a pro/trailhunter lower grille to fit in their lights where the OEM lighter will be. They will also have a kit out for fog light replacements eventually.

That's all awesome and great to hear! New release bars you say...

I was looking at the TH style grille and would do that but having to move and recalibrate the camera is a pain. Supposedly easy fix by the dealership but still an extra trip so I was just hoping for some hidden brackets. I'm tempted to try the CaliRaised bracket with a DD bar, they're real close in width.

Other companies were also saying the fogs are the same between the Tacoma and the 4Runner so I'm curious if their existing Tacoma fog kits would work.

It's so hard to be patient ;) appreciate the info!

Yes, new bars! They announced them last year at SEMA. They have a video out on them from the announcement on their youtube. They replicate the design styling of the pods and include backlighting like the rest of their lineup.

By the way, the OEM fog lights are the same across Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, and Sequoia. I don't want to say Tacoma brackets will fit, but there's a good chance. Let me see if I can ask one of my contacts at DD if they've tried to fit their Tacoma kit into the 4Runner yet. Headlight footprint is the same as well between Tacoma and 4Runner.

Edit: DD confirmed fitment of their Tacoma kit on the 6th gen. If you're willing to wait for the v2 light bars, I would. They're really nice.

That’s awesome, thanks for checking and updating here! I’m looking forward to them!

Edit: I just watched the SEMA video and holy smokes there are so many reasons to wait for the new ones!
