I feel you. I was at the dealer's one day getting my 2020 Limited Nightshade serviced, and a guy pulled up in his new Pro and was having the Grapplers taken off because he thought they were too noisy on the pavement. That is literally the only conversation I ever had about those tires. Do you think making the jump from 275/55/20 to a 275/60/20 would eat up too much of the wheel well on the Platinum?
I think on the 6th gen it would be fine and if I get one that’s what I’ll be doing. On my 2014 I get a little rubbing in reverse with wheel turned but the 6th gen seems to have a lot more room.

They toyos are barely louder than that stock tire and I got 65k out of them before putting another set on. Did great in snow too.

For the record, I have determined the owner of that vehicle and requested that he share the actual tire size and make/model. I agree to your size estimate, but I know nothing about Grappler tires except that a lot of Toyotas have them. What is the difference between a Recon and a Ridge? Is one better than the other, maybe with less road noise?

And you will appreciate the difficulty of my telling you that I have been in contact with an individual up North who is selling his new TRD wheels, with caps, sensors, and the A/T whatever tire it came with. The price is fair, but he is several hundred miles away, and the shipping is stupidly expensive. However, he is venturing a little South in mid-September, and if I'm willing to make an overnight road trip North and he still has them to sell and I want them, we have agreed to meet and exchange. I know that was TMI, but I needed the self-flagellation that came with that confession.
@Everybodyduck Considering our banter exchange on the Platinum vs Pro, I know that it had to be very hard for you to admit you're considering putting the Pro wheels/tires on your Platinum. :) Much respect.

To me, it comes down to how much you like the black 20" wheels? I like them. If you want to keep those then I would go with a 275/60/20 AT tire like the Nitto Ridge or Recon Grappler. They would look sweet on your Platinum as evidenced by the pictures of that black Platinum we've seen. The simplified answer to the difference between the Ridge/Recon is this. They are both AT tires, but the Recon is a little more street friendly and the Ridge is a little bit more rugged towards are true AT tire. I don't think there's a huge difference between the two, but others might argue that.

If you aren't set on keeping the 20 inch Platinum wheels, then go ahead and get the coolest looking OEM wheel/tire combination of all time....the TRD Pro wheels with the Toyo Open Country tires. Just make that long trip and do it!!!! I won't let you forget it, though, if you do. :)

I'd say find another dealer. They are probably teaming up with certain lenders and are getting a kick back on the financing; which means more money for them. And you are likely not getting the best interest rate from them as they are probably adding 1-2% to the rate. Nearly all dealers will accept your own financing and its a red flag on dealers that's won't. Ask them why. They won't likely give me a reasonable answer because they know why.

@Desert_6Gen Thanks for your input. I don't know that the dealer will reject my credit union financing. They probably will take it, but I'm just trying to go in there prepared for anything (since I've learned that the dealership can legally reject outside financing - in fact they can even legally reject cash). I agree that if they reject the credit union financing that I should just walk, but I won't. I want this rig too much. There's only two other of the trim/color I want within 500 miles that are 'available' and they both have HUGE 'dealer adjusted markups'.

I was preapproved at the credit union before I ever started this process. The problem was it took more than 90 days and I had to go back again and get reapproved, but that took about 20 minutes and then 20 minutes to give them the check sign and signatures and I was out the door with the TRD pro

Definitely, the best thing to do is walk into that dealership with a preapproval from a credit union. As a follow up to my situation the dealership would have taken my outside financing. I was worried about that, but they would have taken it. In my case, the dealer beat my outside financing (just barely), so I went with that. But I'm convinced I would have ended up with a higher rate than what I got had I not came in with a preapproval.
