One of the first things I did to my Pro is take it to CryoMode in Mukilteo, WA for industrial ceramic undercoating. They are knowledgeable and thorough. The process involves removing the wheels, skid plates, spare tire. Everything is prepped, dry ice blasted where necessary prior to ceramic coating. This undercoating is supposed to last 10 years. Highly recommended.

Wow! Definitely a smart play especially in the area where they would lay down road salt. From the pics it looks like they did a thorough and competent job. Which if you’re gonna spend the money, looks like it was worth it.

Absolutely. In the winter they now salt the roads in Washington state so some degree of undercarriage protection is a must. Ideally would protect it from the get go but I’ve seen these guys work wonders on older cars. Had them do the same for my 99 R34 GTR. Highly recommend these guys. They know what they’re doing.

Depends on how much you want done. Dry ice prep and ceramic coat is roughly 2k. Thats all I did for this 4runner. If you want dinitrol first then ceramic coat (my r34 for example), it’s going to run higher and largely depends on how old the vehicle is, how much dirt/rust is caked on the undercarriage and suspension.

Thanks, I'm in Kentucky. Doubt anyone around these parts does this. My son has a friend who details and does Ceramic paint work. Thanks for sharing

Look up dry ice blasting in your area. It’s a relatively new service (I’d say probably last 5 years?). I’m sure there are undercarriage specialists that can offer similar services/products.

Your undercarriage looks well protected with that undercoat. I've never heard of dry ice blasting. What's the purpose of it? Is it something done only prior to undercoating?

Thanks! Yes. It’s more effective than pressure washing to remove dirt, oil, grime and corrosion but far less abrasive than sand blasting. Leaves no particles behind as the dry ice dissipates to CO2. It’s the perfect prep prior to undercoating

Nice Car!!! Great work from those guys/gals!

I was gonna do a DIY like "fluid film " since I plan on keeping this thing indefinitely(FOREVER), but since I currently live in TX it went past me.... now the undercarriage is quite messy.
But yes as OP said : Dry ice blasting will clean that up for any application.
It would take a whole weekend to get under there and properly wipe it all clean now...:cry:
I only have pictures from the undercarriage to remember how nice it looked new.

I called Cryomode to have this done as well. They told me all about your 4Runner! Getting PPF and ceramic coating done on the paint, then will see these guys in a couple of weeks. The folks at Metropolitan Detail told me this is really popular to do on the East Coast.. but this is the only place they know of that is doing it out here.
