Just my luck, 6-months is all it took for a rock to chip my front facing camera. Right in the middle of the camera no less.

From what I can tell, a replacement camera is going to cost about $750-900 installed and calibrated. Any suggestions on how I can take preventative measure to avoid this again. Any filters or lens guards out there to install?

Dang. That stinks. I cant think of anything other than maybe some type of film that will likely distort the view.

Just pure bad luck probably. The lens is tiny. Maybe make more effort to stay further back from trucks/suvs that might have more aggressive tread that fling rocks?

lol we both know, all it takes it one weird bounce on the road for a rock to find you no matter how far back you are :ROFLMAO:

hell i watched in slow-mo a rock bounce from a vehicle on my trip back from GA that put a pencil rubber eraser size chip in my windshield below the wiper arm.

$75 and they couldnt completely fill it in. safe-lite wanted me to file a insurance claim or i could pay $178 minimum for them to fix it.

dude...
I was flying down I-95 in my Yaris at night, one week after I had the bumper replaced after some clown backed into it and cracked it to hell a month prior.

In medium traffic at 70-ish suddenly I see a friggin gatorade piss-jug bounce from under one truck in the right lane and it landed in my lane and smashed and cracked my new bumper. Gawd-almighty

lol thats horrible, not as bad as my worst nightmare.

84 turbo supra in white, pristine (mom's car) i take a right turn merging to a another road and me being ignorant of turbo's back then, boost kicks in, do a 180 and rear driver side wheels just snaps off and under the vehicle when it hits the curb. fast forward 3 weeks later, driving down the road back from the body shop and this little chevette pulls out of a kfc and im in the right middle lane of a 4 lane divided road, i decided they are pulling out and i'll just move over to the most inner lane as close to the divider and watch as this dummy comes across 4 lanes and plows into the supra after i just got it out of the body shop.

luckily not too much damage and i was able to drive it back up to atlanta, swap from the mom's supra back to my 87 cressida and drive back to ND while i was on leave (i was usaf back then)

needless to say my mom never let me drive any of her cars again
