I looked into getting my Trailhunter ceramic coated, but I couldn’t justify the $1,800 price tag. After doing some research and watching Project Farm’s video on ceramic coatings, I decided to try the DIY route. I ended up going with Adam’s, and I couldn’t be happier. It was time-consuming to apply, but surprisingly easy to work with. Took it mud riding this weekend, and the mud just rinsed right off!

I had my Limited done a few weeks ago. Amazing stuff! Glad you got it done! I paid only 800 to have mine done.

My guy quoted me $125 for a basic ceramic coating. That seems too low, right? Is there a cheaper way to do a "ceramic coating" that's BS like a spray or something, and then a traditional correct way to do it where you buff it on and off?

A decent coating like CQUARTZ SiC 50ml Kit costs $87, others even more. So you're telling me he spent about 8 hours to make $38 in profit? And eating the cost of the cleaning supplies, microfiber etc

Theres no "buffing it on" in the traditional sense. You just rub it on with a microfiber applicator, wait to dry then wipe off. If you know how to wash your car you can do it.
The hardest and most important part is to clean/prep the car. The rest is easy.

Seems way too low. I had mine ceramic coated at Elite Ceramic Coatings in Winter Garden. Very pleased with them, but it's anywhere between $800 - $1,500 depending on what package you go with.

Awesome thanks for the info. I am requesting a quote from Classic Details in Lake Mary. They have 3, 5 , and 7 year packages. What did you get for the $800-$1500?

They quoted me at Classic -
3 year $1350
5 year $1550
7 year $1750

Also, is the only real point of ceramic coating, to make your car easier to wash? I don't wash my own car, so maybe I shouldn't spend the $2k to get a ceramic coating done?

At Elite Ceramic Coatings they have a 1-2 year package for $850; a 3-5 year package for $1,250; and a 5+ year package for $1,550. I'm not sure if the forum rules allow me to post their website, but you can look it up. I'm not getting any kick back from them, but I was very pleased with their service. I got the $1,550 package.

You said that you don't wash your cars and wondered if ceramic coating is necessary. For me, a full PPF was too expensive, but I didn't want to do nothing for my brand-new car so a ceramic coating was the happy medium. I wouldn't get ceramic coating if you just plan on going through car washes, but it does make hand washing a little easier in my humble opinion.

Im surprised at how much the pricing of ceramic coatings vary. One place near me quoted me $1200.00

A place near my work ran me around $750.00.

Both quotes were for 5 year protection.

I think its worth it as long as one is aware that they need to be maintained, but if it were a choice between ceramic coating and a partial PPF wrap on the front I'd do the latter and wish I would have.
