Building iOS App for 6th Gen (fuel, average miles, and other data)

Little bit of an update. I have completed build 22. I have gotten the Pitch/Roll. traction. gotten horsepower. So a lot of this stuff is coming together. I have a cross-country trip from Atlanta to Arkansas this weekend were I'm really going to be testing it heavily. But here are a couple screenshots of what's been built so far.

I even built in the settings were you can choose your color and the model of your car. And of course, I built a custom one for mine with my roof rack and wheels on it

This really does look awesome! Great work. Sorry if this question is dumb as I don’t know much about this stuff. When you release the iOS app, will I be able to download and use on iPhone or will I also need purchase and use a Bluetooth OBD adapter hooked up to the car at all times that I want to use the app?

You will need to have a ODB2 Bluetooth adapter because that's were it actually gets its data. So there are lots of different ones that are available. I have a list of ones that I've been testing, one I've tested and the ones I will be testing

Once I'm finished with all the testing and the beta tester's feedback, I’ll have a finalized list of the ones that have been tested and I will post that as part of the download in the Apple App Store so people will know which ones actually work.

yeah i will be heading down to buford in september to see my mom again for my 4k round trip.

android user but great there is something decent and targeted to the 4R for the apple users.

They're pretty easy to use. They just slot into the ODB2 port, which is underneath your steering wheel to the left, and that's it. And then you'll just link to it with the Bluetooth. You don't do it in the Bluetooth settings in the phone. Typically, it's the app, and in my case, it's the app that will look for that Bluetooth device.

The Vgate vLinker MC+ is the one I am using, so I know it works . I got it because it had a lot of functionality ...so I am building against it...not sure I am using averring it can do as I am really limited by what Toyota puts out on the CAN Bus, etc. but so far I have been able to do everything I have tried. I am also adding iPhone back up and calibrations as well to provide even more functionality...

Hope that helps (it should) but presumes that folks are starting at the top. Not sure that is the case. We might need some instructions to all users to go with the RTFM meme: RTW(hole)FT(hread).

I kid. I kid. (But the OP has posted a bunch of times about the ODB adapters. I almost pulled the trigger on the recommended one even though I am an Android user and may have to wait a while for this awesome capability to show up for Android Auto to go with whatever else useful I can get from the adapter.)

I would be interested in an iPhone app. Its a crime that Toyota did not provide better tools for tracking and displaying driving information.
The 14" display is absolutely great for maps apps. But beside that, Toyota does not use the screen space at all. What poor software architecture planning and implementation. A huge miss.
