So this is my first vehicle with black plastic fender flares. what do the detailing experts here say about keeping them looking new? Do you have to be extra careful when waxing your car to keep it from getting on the flares? Any special products ? (Adams makes a Black Trim restorer) Thanks in advance!

For non-glossy plastic I use Mother's Back To Black, Aerospace 303, or sometimes Armor All (dust sticks to it). My favorite was a product called Black Chrome, but can't find it anymore.

I used CARPRO CQUARTZ DLUX Wheel and Trim Coat. Says it provides UV protection so hopefully it keeps them from fading. I applied it to the fenders, mirrors, door handles, grille, trunk, and any other plastics I saw.

Thats what I’ve noticed as well, the black trim pieces scratch super easily. I have just accepted the fact that it’s pretty much inevitable and if they get super bad they are pretty easy to replace (OEM and aftermarket options).

For plastics like the fenders, bumpers, etc... I ceramic coated mine while I was doing the rest of the car. For future care, once they start loosing the black, I highly recommend Solution Finish. It will make it look factory new again and lasts 1-2 years, then you can reapply as needed.

Mine are gloss black and I don’t understand why gloss black would be on any off roading vehicle.
