I have a '25 Trailhunter that I bought used. It came with what I believe is some sort of aftermarket plastic bedliner (see photo). I say after market it's not listed on the window sticker and doesn't have any Toyota / Tacoma branding on it (like I have seen on some new Tacoma Trailhunter photos).

My previous trucks either had no bedliner (plastic or spray-on) or spray-on like LineX. I don't mind the plastic bedliner except for water pooling issues shown in the photo. I have been told to not drill holes in it for drainage as that can cause problems with rust due to trapped water. I am open to ripping out this plastic liner and going with a spray-on approach (LineX or Rhino). I would welcome suggestions from others on this topic!

That is not a bed liner, Toyota makes the beds from a composite/fiberglass type of material. So there really isn’t anything to remove from the truck as is.

As far as drainage goes, there should be some drain holes near the cab, but they are small and easily clogged with debris. I enlarged mine with a drill bit and never had any further issues.

Though the bed won’t rust, it’s quite slippery. You can get oem or aftermarket rubber mats that just lay in the bed for much more reasonable cost than a spray in liner.

ok i am scratching my head on this, why is this being asked in a 4runner forum about a truck ???

at least this should have been asked in the off topic thread or the tacoma world forums since its a new tacoma (square rear window opening)

tundra has a full slide down window.

i mean great answer by a forum member but not really relevant to the 4R forum

I’m guessing the “Trailhunter” being both Tacoma and 4Runner models leads to some misleading internet search results.

Or possibly the OP has a 4R also and is just asking about another vehicle they also own that is a very close cousin to the 4R.

your bed already has three holes about pencil diameter up near the cab.
clean them out, the water will drain
