Good morning. Thank you for the additional insight. I just installed the cold air intake from you guys and my 2026 4runner Pro is throwing the Mass Airflow Senor issue which is throwing all other warnings. I checked the position and placement of the sensor and the connections on the tubes, but nothing is working and car is going into Limp mode. Please help and have Zach read my email please.

Hey there! I see you have a Pro model. Our intake requires a tune to properly run on the Pro because the OEM Pro intake system has a different MAF size and subsequent matching ECU programming. We mention this right under the "add to cart" button and I apologize if you missed this.

If you are not looking for tuning, please contact [email protected] or engage with your email with Zach to arrange a return and refund. We'll waive any fees. Sorry about that!

Thank you so much, I guess i was so excited I overlooked it. I want to keep the product, but want to not void the warranty on my new Pro with having it tuned. What do you suggest? Is it safe to have it tuned and is there a way from Toyota not knowing?

I highly recommend asking your service dept about any modifications you "might" make to the truck down the road. Some will be cool with tuning, some won't. The OEM ECU does not have a flash counter, and with that being said it would be difficult for them to know it's been flashed if it was flashed back to the OEM file.

Also keep in mind they cannot void you're entire 4Runner's warranty for ECU tune. They can only deny free warranty repair for just cause that the modification caused your problem visit. For example, if you are tuned and your shock explodes randomly, that shock would be covered under warranty even if you have an ECU tune.

Hope this helps!

thats a slippery slope with an ecu tune. they can blame anything remotely tied to the ecu to a lot of things engine related.

hardware outside of the engine or related to it is pretty easy to get around, but ecu is tied to way more stuff that is important than say shocks, wheels, body panels, etc.

once you are past the 3/36 window yeah go ahead (or if you have a vsa ext warranty window)

remember the dealer is the first line of defense, if they say a ecu tune is to blame even remotely, toyota usa will see it in the notes and just dismiss your claim right off the bat. then it will be upon yourself to prove it otherwise.

and i have seen it happen before, once it gets in your service records of your vin, its going to be an uphill battle.

not saying a proper ecu tune will ruin things but dealers and toyota will side on the easy way out. and a dealer will foam at the mouth to charge you regular labor rates outside of warranty.

anything on the entire powertrain
engine
props
transmission
axles
pumpkins
transfer case

any of that blows a seal
or grinds and you have a tune...you've deviated
from what toyota engineering has tested and checked off
regarding power curve and shift points and fail safes.

if something happens who's to say a bad tune or firmware hiccup
didn't wreck things ?
toyota isn't gonna be very interested in covering powertrain if it
busts and you have power, throttle curve, or transmission changes

want a somewhat or full SEMA rig ?
you need to pay to play, and that also means whatever extra maintenance
you might be signing up for.... that's on your own dime

Is it safe to assume that different rims with non stock offsets could void the warranty on the drivetrain?
