Did the dealer website have one date or a window like I mentioned?

when the build phase is done, it will say in transit With no date. As it gets closer the date will appear on the website . That what happened on mine.

I put a deposit down in December and got my 4 Runner in Early February. The deposit was fully refundable. I wasn’t in a hurry anyway. My dealer hasn’t had any 4 Runners in stock for months. They are all pre sold Before they hit the lot.

Verify that your deposit is actually applied in your final purchase calculations. Our finance ******* omitted our $500 deposit, then refunded later after we pinged them. Were they hoping we wouldn't notice ... ?

When we sat down to go over stuff, they offered to refund my credit.

The last vehicle I put deposit on was I wrote a check that they held. When I completed purchase they handed me the check. I was putting a deposit on the one I was going to buy that was in transit but they made some serious cyber security mistakes in how they wanted to handle my information and cc number so I stoped dealing with them so I don’t know that have gone since they now 3 months later they have vehicle or the fact I would have not bought it due to life changes right after buying one from another dealer.

if they refund the deposit, you actually lose a little bit of money.

since the vehicle price is IE : $500 / $1000 more, you pay more in taxes since tax is usually based on the difference between trade + down payment and actual new vehicle price

its not much depending on your state tax (mine is 5% state tax - you can only be taxed at the state level, no local taxes) so i would lose $25 on a $500 deposit or $50 on a $1000 deposit

in the grand scheme of things its not really a deal breaker but it is lost free money.
