Hey all, I just picked up my first ever 4Runner today and I’m loving it. I’ve combed through other forum threads and couldn’t find an answer to this, but I did see a photo of a dash with the icon on it so it may just be normal.

is the cruise control icon ALWAYS on the dash? Any way to turn it off if I’m not using CC? I’m coming from a 2020 RAM with ACC and the light would only activate when I hit the cruise control button so it’s just a change. any way to turn off the icon?
Came here wondering the same - did you ever get an answer? The icon doesn't bother me but it's my wife's vehicle and she would like it gone. It seems there is no way to really turn CC/ACC completely off which I would think should turn off that indicator. The Mode button only toggles between cruise and adaptive.

I can't recall having a car which didn't have a full OFF setting for cruise. The manual doesn't really say anything about disabling it or turning it off.

CC is always on. defaults to adaptive at ignition on and constant (old style) with toggle switch on right side.

its a minor part (button) and wiring to save maybe .25/.50 cents per vehicle (to have a dedicated on/off button). but in the grand scheme of things, if you use the same button or hardware across multiple model/trims, its a cost savings for the oem long term wise.

but i dont think its a cost savings since once was a single multi function stalk like the old days to 1 button to initially set the speed, 1 toggle to switch between CC modes and 1 toggle to +/- the set speed (also functions as a resume and set a higher speed, and the initial button to set the initial speed is also used to set a lower than the current set speed)

its totally counter-intuitive vs a single stalk.

but then again the old single stalk hanging off the lower right side of the steering wheel tended to get snapped off if you were not careful or had a large frame
