2026 4Runner has been at the VPC ~2 weeks (arrived 6/14). Checked dealerCategory this morning and it's still "A,". Is this normal?
When did yours change from A to F? Thanks!

it can take anywhere from 1 week to 3-4 weeks. many factors involved.

1. randomness on when they in-process your vehicle once off loaded from the ship (port : either portland, jaxport, newark)

2. how long it sits in the massive parking lot to start the process of next step (you have remember the staging area for a port is massive and usually holds thousands of vehicles/models, not just a 4runner

3. how many PIO you have on your vehicle (port installed options / mine took 3 weeks to install power running boards, led liftgate lights, all weather floor liners, mudguards, paint protection film, 2 extra years of remote connect, illuminated front emblem, rear cargo lamp)

also if the PIO you want installed is waiting for a kit/parts, this could extend your wait time

4. waiting for a rail car to be loaded and then a train to be scheduled to move that rail car acorss the country to your specific state/location (this can take up to 2 weeks depending on distance from the port)

5. if there is a hold, all bets are off (see the trd pro delay that is still ongoing for the last 2-3 months)

for you its different since you are GST/SET region. VPC is those regions port processing centers, not toyota's port processing center (hence your processing only took 1 day to process thru toyota's port)

i have no data on GST/SET regions port processing timelines since they operate outside of toyota usa rules.

after toyota drops it off the rail car (rail arrival, i think not sure on responsibility), its no longer toyota usa responsibility and now its that regions responsibility (GST / SET)

i am not entirely sure when it changes hands either at the port processing stage or after rail arrival. GST/SET keep internals pretty tight lipped so there is not a lot of info to pass along.

In the context of Toyota, "GST" stands for Gulf States Toyota, which is an independent private distributor that supplies Toyota vehicles and parts to dealerships in a specific 5-state geographic region.

The five GST states are:
Texas
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Louisiana
Mississippi

What GST Does: Instead of dealing directly with Toyota Motor Sales, USA, dealerships in these five states order their vehicle inventory, parts, and Gulf States regional post-production accessories through GST. If you are shopping for a new vehicle in one of these areas, you may notice unique regional packages or Port-Installed Options (PIO) on the window sticker

This is super helpful, thanks for the detailed breakdown. Good to know the GST VPC operates on its own timeline, especially with a bunch of PIOs. So I'll just keep an eye on the dealerCategory and wait for it to flip to F. Appreciate it!
