Certainly not up to the MIT debate team standards of "Hor, hor, butthurt!".
I had a whole explaination about unpacking someone's words to expose what they didn't say, and explained a few of my own "why" but decided that would just sound more butthurtbecause it was longer than one line.
But the...
Most turbos have a bypass valve now. It's internal and recirculates from the output back to the input right inside the casting. Heck my 2008 Saturn Sky does that.
(the example turbo in the video is even a toyota one, though not specifically ours)
...and jiggling the wires around to get clear pics of all the connections I just blew the fuse for the dash backlights so I can't video it all working. (it still works just my dash backlights are all out now) I'm done for the night!
The alligator clip leads colors here all match the wires on...
I can't find any video on the 28 pin connector.
I made essentially a "video probe" by setting up a generic screen with power and one of the rca wires de-pinned from the video harness plugged in to the video input. The other end of the wire is the hair thin male pins from the connector. So I can...
28 pin connector on the left (the one that comes in the tacoma 2024+ anytime backup kit), see the drawing for the pin numbers, and remember that is looking at the radio, a mirror image of looking at the end of the female connector. Looking at the connector, pin 1 is top left.
pin 24 backlight -...
hah. The backup cam still works even with the entire 30-pin center cable un plugged. The video is nowhere in that connector. None of the pins on it seems to have the backlight power either, so the entire harness can be skipped.
sr5 8 inch
The drawing above with 3 connectors matches the back of the head unit. No new info from a pic.
but I'll post more pics when I'm done of course anyway.
I only just now managed to figure out a way to de-pin the 30-pin connector that has the video so I can start the trial & error...
Part way into the job.
The head unit comes out easy as in the video.
The physical plugs all fit.
The "2024+ tacoma" kit works. All this gets you is it switches on the rear camera. The diagrams on line do not match the switch, but the bag the harness comes in has a printed label that says which...
The pin arrived and it fits perfectly.
Also managed to fit a 4 inch drop in there and still close the cover. It's a Curt 45361 aluminum one that has the unique property that it's the same 2 inch width the whole way, so it can just lay right over the ribs and you're free to position it wherever...
Wires arrived with no directions.
They never answered my customer support request either so no sense trying that again...
There are a few pics on the web site, but only for the 2020-2024 kit. I'm just going to blindly assume that the box in the pics is either somewhere near the screen, or maybe...
Look, whoever admin edited my post... I wanted to give credit for the diagram to the guy who made it, who was not me. You've essentially removed attribution that I *had* provided.
I also wanted to include the rest of the info in that post and thread, and the most convenient and most faithful...
And if you want to own the tool and use it as much as you want instead of a carista subscription, You can get one of these:

The menus are terrible, but someone made a diagram how to get to the right spot.
And I made a video:
I've also used the...
YES!
Got the QuieTite hitch to fit by removing the lock washer from the ball and cutting the threads down flush again.
Now I have everything, the hitch fits, the cover fits, all assosciated parts and tools included, including anti-rattle because the hitch has that built-in.
I used antiseize...
I would like something plain black with no logo ideally, but the next best would be the bronze TOYOTA one. I don't want the black & red TRD one. Might even just paint the stock ones black if I could be sure about it really sticking.
I have the bronze letter front grill with black overlays over...
I bet this Curt fits:
https://www.amazon.com/CURT-45154-Fusion-Ball-Mount/dp/B004PL63Z6
It's nominally a 4 inch drop, but a reviewer shows it's really only 3 1/2", and my old one in the original pics is a 3 inch drop and has a nut, while this one has no nut.
This one is nice and tidy, and rated for the full 6000lbs that the truck is.
(my old one in the original pics is only rated for 5000)
Walmart Hyper Tough LY-2012
The ball is welded so no nut to get in the way of the cover. The cover is clear all the way around.
No anti-rattle though.
It's...
While waiting for my wiring harnesses to ship, I thought I'd try to get the camera in.
I have an SR5 but I did the trd grill swap a few days ago so the provided camera position is way at the top, and the grill did not come with the T-shaped blank that fills the hole, and the one from the SR5...
