Seen a few threads on here with the same issue.

2025 SR5 with under 400 miles.

Left at the dealer indefinitely while they try to get this resolved. Per the other threads, it seems to be an O2 sensor issue and the part is on back order.

Also for clarification, they cleared the issue and drove the vehicle without the light returning. But once I picked it up and drove for a few miles it popped back up so I dropped it off again.

On 10/30 At about 800 miles and 3 weeks into ownership I got the engine light and just about all ancillary functions crapped out. Huge s-it show. Radar, start stop function, cruise control and several other things.
Dealer buzzed it and found the air/fuel ratio sensor was bad. Also referred to as one of the Ox sensors. None available, could be a couple weeks to a month. Ummmmm

You are correct, nation wide empty shelves. No ETA. I randomly checked around the US and found none. Many dealers said they had them but once I placed an order suddenly they did't have any. ... One dealer said in stock, when I checked ETA couple days later it was 12/13 to 12/18.
The Dealer must place an order at which time an ETA will be provided.
Most dealers have visibility into other dealership inventory and number of units on BO with Toyota.
They cleared the faults but on the way home maybe 8 to 10 miles the xmas tree on the dash showed up again.
As it turns out tomorrow (11/12) the new sensor will be installed.
This isn't a new to Toyota sensor, the one in the 2024 Tacoma is identical.
BTW Made by DENSO where you can actually buy one for the '25 4runner if you get jammed up with a Toyota part.
Thought about doing that until the Toyota one came in but WAY to much risk to engine, warranty, etc etc..
You would def be on your own once you installed a non Toyota part, my guess anyway.
I should have a PN for the Toyota part tomorrow if anyone is interested. Doesn't mean that is what went south on yours though.

That is wild, hopefully they get this sorted out. I’m sure more people will have this issue. Yeah a part number would be great. Going to call my dealership today and see what timeline they are expecting.

The engine air/fuel sensor was replaced today. Couple of things, I noticed much smoother shifting. No hesitation or rough patches between or after shifts.
Hoping I can boost the MPG with the new sensor.
Have not been able to get beyond 20.8 with non city driving.

Unfortunately the sensor part number was
not on the work order.
Somewhere buried in the vehicle history there will be a part number.
attached are the tech's notes.

Glad to hear it works and hopefully all good in the future.

Looking forward to smoother driving and better MPG once replaced as well.

My part was ordered. Waiting to hear a timeline but estimated 1-3 weeks from calling around

seems i am seeing a trend of a few MAF's go bad lately on the new 4R.

What inventory system does Toyota use?

The Kanban system

The Kanban system is central to the Just-In-Time process. It provides an automatic, real-time method to replenish parts at the line side and keep minimal stock. šŸ‘

I know I can't condemn the whole system over one incident- UNLESS IT 's MY CAR THAT SAT FOR TWO WEEKS.

I suppose a sudden increase in field failures would definitely blow up the JIT system. Which means some strange incompatibility or a bunch were faulty from the manufacturer.

Hoping it is the manufacturer.

Chiming in here to say I have the same issue. 1400 miles on a 2025. Codes on a regular scanner are P2195 and P00D5. Part on backorder until at least 12/15 as of today.

Clearly a big and common issue, hopefully not the start of rough waters but I'm not convinced.

Those codes are not the same as the ones Toyota found on mine. but I suppose different scanners could produce different codes but same failure.
The biggest PITA for me was not getting timing for the part.
What I found is the only reliable date is the one given to the dealer after an order is place. All the rest are bogus.
Many places said they had it or could get it in a couple of days. Nope.
So good luck, maybe the pipeline is filling.
MA has a pretty solid lemon law but who wants to go through that BS.

Just an update on my case:

Dealer called and said Dec 21st is the estimated date. I opened a case with Toyota customer service and was told early December for delivery. Considering my issue started on Nov 11, having to wait close to 40 days for a part is ridiculous.

Yes I agree especially with a new purchase. And especially from Toyota.
Loss of use in MA is 15 days. Then refund, including all expenses related to the purchase, taxes, registration, etc. or replacement. Your choice.
I assume your state has similar laws.
Loss of use is pretty straight forward, unlike nagging failures.
I'm not sure if bringing this up to Toyota Care would speed up the part replacement.
I am also unsure if you put the lemon law in motion if you can back out.
Best of luck, my month availability for the part actually turned out to be 2 weeks so let's hope yours shows up earlier.

Ohio has the same policy but requires 30 days so hopefully doesn’t get that point. And yes I agree, very frustrating but if it can get resolved in the next week or two I’ll be happy.

MA has no automotive presence for the most part-the legislature can write whatever they want 😁
