Hey guys I have a TRD ORP with a hybrid, there’s a somewhat obnoxious high pitch noise, like a beep or ring. Has anyone else heard this?

Yep, open up your center console storage and put your ear in there…you’ll hear it even louder. I swapped my hybrid for a gas model b/c it was so obnoxious. There’s an inverter placed just underneath the center console storage area that seems to be the culprit. Put in a complaint with Toyota and they pretty much ignored me.

Holy s**t your right it is louder when you put your ear in the center console. It’s driving me nuts to be honest I want it gone, has Toyota recognized it as a problem yet

Not that I know of, but there were multiple people at my dealership that were aware of it.

I stuffed a bunch of rags in the center console and maybe it helped a little. I’m ordering some adhesive backed sound deadening foam from Amazon. I’m going to remove the center console and line the inside. I’ll report back if it helps. It’s driving me a little crazy.

I removed the center console and lined the inside with sound deadening adhesive backed foam. I wouldn’t say it’s undetectable but it’s reduced. The most time consuming thing was cutting up the foam. If anyone is interested I took video of the removal of the center console. I can edit them together. I saw a video of the Tacoma removal but it is a little different.

I know this is an old thread, but curious if anyone has a resolution for this high pitch noise (not AVAS) outside if soundproofing. It is loudest when sticking ones ear in the center console compartment. For summary sake, the noise is at all speeds, but will stop once at complete stop and either the regen braking system activates. Once the brake is released, at just the slightest. The noise starts again. Quiet frustrating.
