  1. What’s the best trim for washboard roads?

Ceramic coating is different than ceramic spray. It is a hard multi year coating. It also requires paint prep for proper adhesion. Ceramic coating is more hydrophobic and keeps the car paint a little cleaner. Ironically the one thing that bugs me about ceramic coatings is that they’re prone to...
  2. Rear ended on freeway - thoughts or advice?

Following with interest because before purchasing, my neighbor who owns an auto body repair mentioned that the new 4Runners and Tacomas if they get rear ended are often totaled because the frame gets bent. From what I recall there isn’t a back bumper it’s just a bumper skin. Replacing the frame...
  3. Yellow Road Paint removal

Have you tried paint thinner? My neighbor owns an auto body shop. Had some spray paint to remove and he gave me some industrial grade paint thinner and it worked without damaging the paint. Worth a test spot. Otherwise I hate to say it on a new car but wet sand and polish.
  4. Color Choice! Underground vs. Cutting Edge

I’ve heard multiple comments about underground being soft. I think any dark color is going to be prone to showing scratches. The lighter colors are scratching too but harder to see. I have a crown signia in black and when I polished it didn’t seem soft. Usually when the paint is soft it...
  5. Taking a Deeper Look at Transmission Overheating in 4Hi

I did a slow uphill in 4 hi. Hybrid orp. 285/70/17. 2 hours under 5 mph. 4 passengers. In D, drive mode normal. No overheating
  6. Hybrid system failed - "System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer"

Hasn’t happened again. Driven about 300 miles since.
  7. Color Choice! Underground vs. Cutting Edge

Personally underground is my favorite color on the runner. But went with silver because I drive a dirt road everyday. Silver hides the dirt better. Silver also has a metallic in it while I don’t believe underground does. I’m a hobbyist car detailer and would spend a lot more time on washing if...
  8. Hybrid system failed - "System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer"

Happened to me on my ORP hybrid. 1100 miles. Drove to the dealer and of course no error. They ran diagnostics didnt find any issues.
  9. HIGH PITCH NOISE IN CAB WHEN VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE

I removed the center console and lined the inside with sound deadening adhesive backed foam. I wouldn’t say it’s undetectable but it’s reduced. The most time consuming thing was cutting up the foam. If anyone is interested I took video of the removal of the center console. I can edit them...
  10. Aftermarket Wheels, Bigger Tires, Lift Kits (Compilation) for 2025+ 4Runner 6th Gen -- Add Yours!

I joined the +35 club. Fretted over +25 or +35. For a while. I didn’t want the thread to stick out because I’m driving dirt road daily. The thread of front and rear tire line up with the inside lip of the plastic fender. The budge sticks out past the fender. I tried to show it on the last...
  11. HIGH PITCH NOISE IN CAB WHEN VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE

I stuffed a bunch of rags in the center console and maybe it helped a little. I’m ordering some adhesive backed sound deadening foam from Amazon. I’m going to remove the center console and line the inside. I’ll report back if it helps. It’s driving me a little crazy.
  12. Anyone still use Zaino car care products?

I asked the dealer not to wash and prep and I closely inspected and didn’t have swirls on my paint (silver). Tons of good ceramic coats available. I have several cars that I coated that are holding up fine in the two year range. If you don’t want to go the ceramic coat route the ceramic detail...
