I just ordered these and need to figure out the blind bolt sitation, but can you use these as a step? My wife is short and this is her daily so was hoping they are functional as a running board. Thanks!
hmm…as far as a “running board” type step its possible but not ideal, IMO. It’s kind of shallow, not a lot of room to put your foot on it. No one in my family uses them as such (wife and kid). It’s more for protection than stepping. You may want to go aftermarket if you want a step and slider combo.

Right on, thanks! How many 1/4 bolts did you need?

I had 12 holes that needed to be filled on my frame, but this number appears to fluctuate between trims. I would probably get the sliders in first and check under your frame to verify what you need.

Would have been a whole lot easier if toyota would have just threaded the holes, huh? Yeah, I think I spent probably $100 to get them put on too.

I was able to find a "blind bolt" solution if anyone wants that instead of rivet nuts. I had the hardest time finding one for this application.

Do a quick search for "atc box bolt". That's the company and product.
Would post link, but not sure if against forum rules if not a "sponsor".

There were a couple of hard to reach areas I couldn't quite get the rivet nut like I wanted. Wish I would have found these bolts in the beginning. These worked so much better.

They are described as a structural steel expansion anchor for blind applications. I wound up going with their 1/4' size. It has a 2800lb load rating/4800lb sheer rating per bolt.

I wanted to try the 5/16' but I was worried the sleeve size at 9/16' was too big for the holes in the frame. Couldn't find my caliper to test it.

The 1/4 box bolt required a 18mm wrench and 10mm socket to install. Took about 3-5 min per bolt, but the rails aren't going anywhere now. Would definitely recommend these.
How r these blind bolts holding up with the rock sliders

The blind bolts are way better than the rivet nuts actually. I’d go that route for sure.

U said u went with 1/4 blind bolts right.
That’s what I used. I believe another poster went 1 size up. Maybe look back and see and follow up with that poster.

1/4 was a little loose to start but once you start ratcheting it up it tightens up for sure.

Regarding the CBI rails and the TRD OR. Getting the bolts through the warranty is the way to go. However, they were slow to respond and I got impatient, so I contacted ATC Specialty Products regarding there box bolts. The unthreaded holes measure 1/2”. They recommended 5/16” box bolt and said the holes needs to be drilled to 9/16”.
I have not received them yet. I’ll post how it works out.

Did u end up drilling the hole bigger or did just fit right in.
