my best guess would be m8. I used m8 rivet nuts to plug the holes in the frame. The bolts i used were about 1 1/2 in long.
another poster used the 5/16 blind bolt and thats close to 8mm
That’s what I used. I believe another poster went 1 size up. Maybe look back and see and follow up with that poster.
1/4 was a little loose to start but once you start ratcheting it up it tightens up for sure.
Blind bolt install was easy peasy. I found it easier than the rivet nut/nutzert method to be honest. I also think the blind bolts will hold up better long term.
I had 12 holes that needed to be filled on my frame, but this number appears to fluctuate between trims. I would probably get the sliders in first and check under your frame to verify what you need.
hmm…as far as a “running board” type step its possible but not ideal, IMO. It’s kind of shallow, not a lot of room to put your foot on it. No one in my family uses them as such (wife and kid). It’s more for protection than stepping. You may want to go aftermarket if you want a step and slider...
I was able to find a "blind bolt" solution if anyone wants that instead of rivet nuts. I had the hardest time finding one for this application.
Do a quick search for "atc box bolt". That's the company and product.
Would post link, but not sure if against forum rules if not a "sponsor"...
Can’t speak for westcot, but the oem bolts are 10mm. I’d probably go with something 1-2” long and the equivalent.
I used 8mm - 5/16” rivet nuts. There is some thickness to the jacket that is helping to plug that hole. Hope that helps some.

Check out this thread. I ran into the same issue. Hope you get it sorted out!
Big shout to CBI. I talked to them today to get some ideas. CBI is sending these with their kits, but I poked their brains on it.
I think I’m going to try rivet nuts to plug the holes that aren’t threaded to get the oem rock sliders on. I will report back when I can get the tool ordered and...
Thanks for all the responses. Did not see the other post.
What is weird is on the driver side there are 4 threads, and on the passenger side 2 threads. The remaining ones of the 16 needed are blank.
Would welding the sliders to the frame be an option? Any opinions on that? I see maybe “blind...
Anyone successfully install the OEM Trailhunter Rocksliders on another trim? Specifically a TRD ORP Hybrid.
I ordered the two parts from my dealer PT228-89251 and PT228-89252. It came with the installation hardware in the box. There are 8 10MM bolts per side.
I went to line them up on the...
