Used Dongar Pro for install of Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 in SR5

Installed a garmin mini 2 dash cam using the @Dongar pro adaptor. The SR5 does not have a 10pin connector. The 5-pin Dome light is the only one available to tap. Removing the rear view mirror shroud and dome light enclosure is necessary. This has been demonstrated and detailed in other threads.

First pull the smaller first piece towards you and then push down towards the front of the car and the rest of the shroud should slide off. No 10pin connector visualized. Which I have seen in installs involving the Tacoma.

Next pull down the dome light enclosure. Use a plastic panel removal tool to get under the front two corners to release the fasteners then push down towards the front of the car to slide the enclosure out.

Then to the left is the 5pin connector.

I attached there and then ran the power cable down through the shroud and out the side.

Thanks! Doing a rear view cam/mirror soon and this was helpful. I always see folks mount the dongar where they can access vs hidden. Is it dumb to hide these since they have the switch?

Awesome tutorial definitely helped me get my dashcam installed. Its definitely a bit of a pull down on the dome light unit you need to take down to tap into.

I did notice that there was a wire that presumably would be used for the factory dashcam but I couldnt use the dongar pro to tap as it was a much larger pin connector vs what came in the package.

I believe the three is horizontal. The previous gen , the 2, is vertical.

I didn’t see that larger pin connector. It took me a moment to find the one I used.

There is just enough space to mount the dongar under the rear view mirror shroud. I placed mine outside the shroud just for ease of access. It doesn’t look as clean but I’m ok with it.

@Gmoney nicely done and thanks for the support ... the Garmin stuff is really great! We've gotten to know them pretty well over the years and I'm hoping they finally sell a multichannel setup someday to take full advantage of the Dongar PRO (e.g. having interior recording while it's parked!). BTW we also now support power via the TSS 3.0 lane-trace 16-pin camera, which is ignition-on only but installed in 100% of all 6G 4Runners:
