Hey 4R6G forum...
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and I wanted to start by saying thank you to the 6G community. Even during the months I haven’t been active, you all have continued to support Dongar, ask questions, share installs, and help other members out. We've been swamped prepping...
@Archer the wiring included with the camera works just fine--it's routing it from the center console, around the footwell, up the pillar an to the center mirror which is suboptimal for many. So we have a product that plugs into wiring already going through your ceiling... that means quicker and...
@kekecarioca The 10-pin Type B is a little quicker/easier to install and most would prefer it.
I'd still recommend the the 5-pin connector in the domelight because Toyota put that port there in the 6G for (their own dealer option) dashcams, so why keep it unused .
@Vincenzo hey just wondering if you're saying this is post-Dongar install, or are you saying you just happened to notice it while you were installing one of our products? I'm assuming you have our SKU that plugs into your rearview mirror which is a completely different circuit! Let me know if I...
@Jpr18 thanks for the shoutout! I'll add here that we use OEM connectors whenever possible and we spec our wires per UL 1332 standards, among other things. Our USB modules are also designed in-house and are the only ones in this entire category that can output true USB-C including 12V which...
Also I'll add: in my '24 Tacoma I've been running parking mode with the blackue then a 4-channel vantrue on the factory battery. 23k mi daily-driven miles in the last year and there hasn't been a single issue with the vehicle restarting, even after keeping it parked at the airport a couple...
@scorp The radar feature on the Thinkware U3000 sounds great in concept, but still a ton of debate about its usability, or some would say reliability: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/radar-feature-useless.51169/ where crux of the issue with the U3000 is that while it conserves battery...
@scorp thinkware and blackvue actually wire their plugs differently... same size plug but reverse wiring. I wonder if its a rivalry / frenemies thing because they're both Korean and two of the only manufacturers using 12VDC plugs. Anyways we have a bunch of BlackVue compatible cables but not...
@Gmoney nicely done and thanks for the support  ... the Garmin stuff is really great! We've gotten to know them pretty well over the years and I'm hoping they finally sell a multichannel setup someday to take full advantage of the Dongar PRO (e.g. having interior recording while it's...
Nicely done. I was running the DR970X on the '24 Tacoma rearview mirror when I first designed our PRO dashcam power adapter. I can't remember exactly but we got maybe 2-3 days of recording powering directly off the truck's battery before low voltage kicks-in, albeit I don't use LTE and I use...
@Fishing I haven't checked on the 4R yet but it's in the same spot according to the owner's manual, plus the chassis is known to have shared development:
You'd probably have better luck wiring your ext battery to the 5-pin connector in the roof cavity, somehow.
@Vincenzo, yes the 10-pin harness would suffice, but the connector isn't standard on all trim levels. I would recommend using the 5-pin harness in the domelight which is in 100% in all trims. Don't have to use the PRO module, but there's an ignition-only mode on it so you have the flexibility...
Nicely done!
If the strange connector you found is #X19 in this diagram, Toyota says it’s a noise cancellation microphone? There's also a harness in that area for the sunroof ECU, and just some other junction connector?‍♂️
@donayre21, there's nothing wrong with them, we just add improvements each time we start a new production and they haven't received the latest build yet. The improvements are small but meaningful, like the adhesive tape on the base is better.
ugh the Mangoal stuff is 100% garbage. They aren't CE/UL compliant, not to mention they literally cloned my entire product line and work. If you're interested, I have a quick reference chart showing 4 different power options for your T4R, none of which require accessing the fusebox  ...
@donayre21 PMA-02 is for Mazda, sorry for the confusion. PS, the units available at our webshop are guaranteed to be the latest versions (with new instruction manuals and small improvements) Amazon has some old stock.
