Still got it. Main issue is ride quality but might do a tire upgrade at some point. Others with non-sr5 trims seem to have no issue so might just be the stock tires. It’s just real jittery on the road I normally drive.
It’s valid. It’s a tiny critique of mine as well, but it is an off road vehicle after all.

The suspension will most likely be more supple in a vehicle such as a Lexus, a Crown Insignia or maybe a RAV4.

Any updates on this? How many miles are you at and any improvement?

I have a new SR5 and the ride a little harsher than I'd like. I am wondering if the shocks have a break in period.

No update, still on the fence about throwing money at tires. My back isn’t the best so the jarring nature over bumps makes me not even want to get in the vehicle lol.

Having played with tire pressures my gut feeling is new tires will help a bit not a big difference. I'm just going to driving it a lot and see if things loosen up. I am at 400 or so miles. I'll try the bigger tires whenever these give out.

Shopped around this weekend. In my area, they are adding +5k to msrp on 4Runners. Got one dealer to give me +1500 over msrp on my sr5 for a Land Cruiser 1958; which would net out ~6k under msrp. Sleeping on it but the LC is def a smoother ride.

Nice. I test drove the LC as well. I think it rode smoother as well. I didn't like the decreased cargo space though. Supposedly the 4runner is better built than the LC as well. Both cool cars

Honestly, if ride quality is a deal breaker you may want to just try another brand altogether. I test drove the LC and it was still jittery (though a tiny bit better than the 4Runner). I also had a 2024 Tundra briefly, also jittery. I’ve been wondering if the TNGA platform has something to do with it. Sounds like you’re looking for more of a comfortable family hauler. Maybe try a Ford Explorer or a Subaru.

I just wrote this in another post but it seems relevant here. My dealer still doesn't have an allocation for a Limited spec'd with FT4WD and portebello interior, the one I put a deposit down on. Stopped to look at a Passport yesterday and I was impressed. The Passport Trailsport Elite has more luxury features than the Limited, roomier (especially in the back seat), rides nice and has very good build quality and materials. Being a unibody structure it has more interior room and is noticeably roomier in the cabin. Plenty of room for a car seat.

Interesting thread! We have a 2022 4Runner SR5...

The ride comments surprise me. On the 2022 I find its one of the softest/smoothest rides I've ever had. Which is usually the case with off road oriented trucks, since they have compliant suspension for off road (not tight cornering) and thick tires. It rides much better than the 2021 Escape and 2015 Camry we had before it. I will have to try a 2025 and see what's changed.

As far as car seats, on our 2022 with two (Graco 4ever and a Uppababy infant seat), they fit totally fine, always have, but they do basically turn it into a 4 person vehicle (driver, front passenger, and 2 car seats). The middle seat is unusable and the rear 3rd row is basically inaccessible when the car seats are in.

We want a new vehicle in the next couple years but are on the fence on whether to get the new 4Runner because we do love our current one, or go with a large CUV like the Acadia which would lose all the 4Runner's cool factor but be better for transporting more people.

4Runners really are an old school 90s style SUV. Most people don't want that compromised to be more family friendly. The Highlander/Grand Highlander exist for those customers that want the smoother ride/better car seat setups.

The 4Runner is big on the outside but the interior space is more like Rav4 level. That seems to be the case for the new 2025s as well as the 2022 I have.

It will be interesting to read how the car rides with the sway bars disconnected once people start doing that. Perhaps that'll give more on road compliance.

I’d consider the Land Cruiser. It’s does not have a third row, but backseat has much more room than 4Runner. Ride is smoother, price isn’t bad compared to mid to high level 4r trims. Plus it has the cool factor.

I actually test drove it a while back in 1958 from. While I liked the exterior of the LC more i think it was overpriced for the basic materials/features offered. Also I didn't want the hybrid due to added complexity and it eating into the trunk space. But you are right I remember it riding a bit smoother.

I like the 4runner a lot and I am sure someone will figure out how to smoothen out the ride. I looked under the car and it looks like removing sway bars manually should be a pretty easy experiment...
