2025 6G4R TRD PRO BUILD (So Far)

Here is my build so far. Some of these mods were done by me, others done professionally (particularly anything having to do with electrical work). I know many people lead with lifts and suspension and bigger tires. My plan is to figure out use cases, weight distribution and final mods before I decide on lifts, suspension or bigger tires. I need to know those things before I can truly pick the right lift and suspension.

What did you do to preserve rear camera function with the Ultra Swing in place? Good lookin’ vehicle!

nothing yet. I can see out the rear view mirror still and I am GenX so grew up without backup cameras, sensors and driving a stick shift while doing it . So just making it work. Expedition one seems to have a backup camera you can install and Camera Source (the supplier for Rig’d’s backup camera relocations on their site) says they have a 6G4R backup relocation in development. So just living with it until someone comes out with something. Ultimately I see myself moving to a full bumper replace with swing outs that retain the sensors and relocates the camera. But that could be a year or two away. You could always just pickup a Wolfbox but you’ll need to wire power to the camera in the back and then also wire it up through the cabin to the rear view. Garmin makes a Bluetooth camera that you can use through certain Garmin products but you need to wire that for power too.

lol…I know my driving skills are being tainted by technology but I kinda’ like the rear camera. Used it a lot it in some tight spots. My biggest concern is not damaging the LVDS cable or compromising the overall MTM/PVM system. Rave Off Road makes a 55” plug and play extension for Tacoma and Tundra that they feel confident will fit our architecture. I think I talked to the folks in Boulder already - I know they’re close to a prototype. Pretty sure we’ll see a plug and play solution soon that doesn’t require complete bumper replacement. I like the Expedition One setup just a little concerned with the weight. I’d really prefer the UltraSwing as well.

Did you see that GGoffroad just posted on this site saying they think their camera relocate might work with 4Runners and asking for some testers?

I did…I’ll offer to help as well. I think a plug and play solution will sell itself.
