Toyota knows exactly where your car is. They know what slot on which ship and the latitude and longitude of that ship.

So that is your main gripe, that you don't know exactly where in the ocean your incoming 4Runner is at any given point in time? Maybe I did not read every post.

i had the opposite happen, dealer said it was allocated… saw the vehicle but did not have a “sale pending” sign.. contacted the dealer to confirm and they confirmed its mine….. almost had a mini heart attack

my dealer does this. every vehicle i have purchased since the 2010's have been this way even though i had a deposit and it was an allocation reserve request.

its just to drum up foot traffic to the website or dealership.

i find it funny sales tactic but no harm done to me as a customer.


the funniest part, we had a 2016 tacoma limited v6 double cab on allocation reserve request and it arrived at the dealer. my next door neighbor tried to buy it out from me when it arrived and the dealer said they couldnt since a deposit and allocation reserve request was put in.

you should have heard the story coming from him when he saw the truck in OUR driveway.

he ended up getting a red tacoma, still has it to this day

I’ve been limiting myself to 1 website check per day lol. Today, the trim and color I reserved is newly posted with a very similar (not exact) price. Odds this is good news for me? Haven’t heard from the dealer yet about anything, not even an allocation. My hopes are up, I am ready to get hurt again.

Edit: It was indeed good news for me. Expected delivery early April!
