Question: On the factory SR5 front struts there is a rubber piece on the lower spring perch, am I transferring the rubber piece to the preload collar?

I sent this video to my mechanic and it doesn’t mention the piece I’m referring to so we figured it needed to be transferred over.

I installed this myself and wondered the same. In the vids they did not keep it or mention it but I still wondered whether it would even fit. It did not. It conforms/fits to the OEM steel spring perch and has one or two rubber tabs/nubs that seat into a depression or hole in the steel. Those bits prevent the rubber from form fitting to the Westcott collar/perch. Even if your shaved them off the rubber is not shaped in a way that I could see it fitting against the WD collar. I messed with it long enough to be fairly certain.

To be clear, this regarding the front. For the rear, the rubber (or maybe poly) puck stays and the WD alum puck sits on top of it.
