SXTH Cold Air Intake CAI for 2025 4Runner - how does it sound? (updated with videos / sound samples)

Has anyone installed the SXTH CAI on their 4Runner? Is the whistle too loud? Was it an easy install? I was thinking about buying but it’s hard to gauge the sound level off of YouTube videos so I was looking for more personal reviews. Thank you!

I can only hear it if I have my stereo nearly at zero volume or I really try to hear it. Wind noise from windows even being down part way is louder than the whistle. It feel like more folks will be disappointed with how quiet it is rather than being too loud. I enjoy turning the stereo down some and listening to it when I want. Curious if doing a different more flowing dual cone filter element will make it any louder.

All that to be said, I'd install it again no problem.

I agree alot of the youtube video's I found had the mic placed in the engine bay...

I've been thinking of taking advantage of their Black Friday sale on this but than I started watching YouTube videos to try and get an idea of what it actually does to change the sound of the vehicle.

This is probably a dumb question, but in all of the videos I've watched it seems the sound people are trying to capture is that high pitched, raspy whistle from the turbo, is that correct ? This thing does nothing to make the engine sound beefier/deeper ?

Asking because that turbo sound is not pleasant for me to hear at all...it literally makes my teeth rattle and Ive already got tinnitus and don't need to hear more high pitched noises lol

I would say its mostly to hear the turbo noise, so it may not be a product for you... I like turbo noise and also have tinnitus so who knows haha might sound stock to me.

its not over bearing, but still sounds good, its an easy mod. anyone recommend how tight the clamps should be be on it? they say not to tight… but its oneof those relative statements.
