Are the running boards not beneficial for the sticks and branches i kick up on trails? Heard some wicked ones whack my door this past weekend so i thought they offered a bit of protection, am i naive in that regard too haha?….Since its still a new car technically, i did want to keep the lower door/rocker panels as clean as possible from debris for atleast a few years… Also if im taking off the boards, the mud guards gotta get deleted too, and then i really need a lift and 35’s to make it all look right… and that is all too much for my budget at the moment, so I think a stupidity checklist (im already working on) and upgraded true 33” A/Ts will come first and then ill see about winch vs these ground clearance upgrades down the line…
Look from what you’re telling me about ur budget and scratches I don’t recommend doing hard off-road wheeling then. Twigs sticks paint pinstripes are part of the game if you’re really into off-roading. Running boards will stop sticks I guess. I recommend just some easy dirt roads at max for ur budget n lifestyle. Get 33s n call it a day

The budget always includes 4 digit emergency tow money lol. Ill find the blend of pushing it over time and keeping it ok for my daily life… I can “afford” all
that i said, id just look even dumber than i did on easter in the mud pit when i still
need a 1100$ winch out after upgrading 3500$ 🤣. My budget isnt low iq like my actions when pushing boundaries …

I was going to suggest getting an old Jeep and putting tires, lift, lockers, and winch on it for serious offloading. Not sure if there’s any vehicle with stock tires and no lift would make it through that puddle. Been there, done it both ways.

by the way, if you notice your brakes start grinding a bit, you may have to pull the calipers and clean the sand and mud underneath the brake pads.

keep having fun, you’ll figure it out.
Week later, my front left brake sounds like a child screaming murder…. Thought i was gunna get away with not taking these off lol

Yeah you might as well clean all four of them while you’re at it. My worst one was after driving through a clear water stream about 24 inches deep and 50 feet wide. It had a sandy bottom and by the time I got home, the brakes were making so much noise that I had to remove all four calipers and clean sand out of all of them.

No big deal. Just part of the cost of wheeling.
