Rock Sliders for My 6th Gen 4Runner – Iron Ryno Fabrication Review
Hey everyone, wanted to share my experience getting a set of custom rock sliders made for my 6th Gen 4Runner by Ryan at Iron Ryno Fabrication located in Southern California. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out, and figured this might help anyone else looking for sliders for their new rig.
Note - He did not ask me to write a review, I was not compensated for a review and I paid for these with my own money.
Why I Wanted Rock Sliders
Basically, I wanted steps on steroids. I plan on taking my 4Runner off-road pretty regularly, and I wanted the added protection from rocks, branches, and all the other fun stuff that tries to dent your doors. Plus, I like having something functional to step on that actually looks good.
The Search
Like most of us, I started looking at the common options (Westcott, RCI, Cali Raised, CBI, etc).
Finding Iron Ryno Fabrication
A little Googling led me to some Tacoma forum posts from local guys talking about Ryan at Iron Ryno Fabrication. Everyone seemed to have great things to say about his work.
I reached out to him on Instagram to ask if he was making 6th Gen 4Runner sliders yet. He said not yet, but if I was down to be his test fit vehicle, he’d start designing them.
Next thing I know, I’m spending about 8 hours at his shop while he took measurements, tack welded the driver’s side set, and made sure everything lined up perfectly. Super chill guy — we talked trucks and fabrication all day.
The Final Product
I went with:
Ryan got them powder coated fast and had them installed the following weekend. He even made a few tweaks on the fly to make sure the fit was absolutely perfect, so if anyone orders 6th Gen sliders from him now, the process should be smooth.
The build quality, welds, and materials are top-notch. You can tell he takes real pride in his work. These things are solid and look fantastic on the truck.
About Ryan (and why I am even mentioning him directly)
Honestly, Ryan’s just a genuine dude who makes a killer product. He’s easy to work with, communicative, and takes the time to do things right. After spending that much time together, I’d call him a good friend. I love supporting someone local who clearly cares about what they’re putting out there. I think most of us like to know where our money goes, and supporting him makes these that much better. Part of what makes hobbies like these so amazing is the people you meet along the way. Stuff comes and goes, but the relationships you are fortunate to make along the way mean wayyyy more.

If you have any questions or want any additional pictures, I would be more than happy to help!

The Final Product
I went with:
- Kick-out design
- Top plates
- Matte black powder coat
- 10-degree angle (perfect for stepping in/out)
