Part Number for “4Runner” Emblem Overlay (for Liftgate)?

Does anyone make a true overlay for the “4Runner” letters on the liftgate? My 5th had adhesive black letter overlays/caps that installed over the letters. I ordered overlays from the dealer but they sent me “TOYOTA” lettering instead and didn’t know what I was talking about.

What color are you looking for?

For bronze overlays the part numbers are:

Looks like the only black OEM badge overlay you can get is for the front badge.

Not to hijack your thread but do they make them in red? I'm looking at getting a pro and thought it was crazy that it has lots of red accents but not for the rear liftgate when I went through the builder on Toyota's site. I could get black lettering which I thought was odd since it's not color matched like other trims.

Black on black is kind of silly IMO. If the wheels were bronze then I could see choosing it for the grill and rear liftgate. I like the red lettering for the grill but it really needs matching red lettering for the liftgate.

No problem Unfortunately I haven’t seen any sign of black overlay sets on any Toyota parts catalogs so they may not have them available (yet?)

You might be able to buy the lettering (rather than overlays) itself though, if you wouldn’t be opposed to removing your current badges and using the template to apply the new ones. My TRD ORP came with matte black 4Runner lettering from the factory so it must be an available part.

My 4Runner came with black lettering too, but I accidentally messed up the letters with bug a tar remover. Goo Off will completely destroy the finish on the lettering, as well as the black plastic on the liftgate.

There are no OEM red emblems or overlays except for the heritage grille “TOYOTA” inserts, which can be matched to paint colors.

For the “TOYOTA” text on the rear hatch, the only options for OEM inlays are:

No idea, it was a gift from the fleet manager for receiving the first hybrid in Southern California. He added a lot of the Platinum parts to my limited since I wanted the black out. He added the black overlay, letters. Roof rack, tires, side mirrors, and handles. We are still waiting on the front and rear valance.

Oh man I'm sorry to hear that. Years ago I made the mistake of confusing Goof Off and Goo Gone and hazed up a patch of clear coat on my old truck. Goof Off is acetone-based which destroys paint, clear coat, plastic, etc. while Goo Gone is citrus-based and is way gentler.

It doesn't help that the products look so similar - seriously, who thought this was a good idea lol ?

Unfortunately Toyota stopped using SimplePart for their parts website a few years ago so it's become way more difficult to find PNs of small or uncommon parts - I haven't been able to locate the PN for the letters. That said, any dealer will definitely be able to find the right PN and order new letters for your tailgate.
