mine was scheduled to be loaded to a transport on 3-aug, wonder if that is going to get delayed now.

doubtful now that i look at the map of where tahara is and kumamoto is

Kyushu is a key base for Japan’s automotive and semiconductor industries, which account for roughly two-fifths of regional industrial output, the industry ministry says.

My allocation is expected to arrive in Portland on 8/10. According to Perplexity, this likely means it left the plant a couple of weeks ago, and is either already on the ship or waiting to leave. I've asked my local dealer if they can tell whether the earthquake will affect my allocation timing.

The Tahara plant isn't even on that map, its 500 miles away.

I mean if you read the article it’s clearly stated what is effdcted.

“About 90 percent of Lexus vehicles that come out of Toyota's Miyata assembly plant are exported to other countries, Toyota's website says, including the United States. The ESsedan, RX compact SUV, and UX and NX subcompact SUVs are all manufactured at the Miyata plant and shipped to the United States. Nissan's affected plants produce the Infiniti QX80 and the Nissan Armada, among other vehicles sold in global markets.“

the only thing i think might be affected is that the chip production for vehicles is 2/5th in that region.

and not just for toyota but i think also lexus and mazda and nissan

I had the same thought, but thanks for pointing it out in case I was a psychopath. Two things can be true, and we humans are capable of feeling both at the same time ("I contain multitudes"). I can both sympathize with the tragedy, loss of life, disruption, and toll of an earthquake (I was living in Downtown San Francisco when the 1989 7.2 quake hit), while also wanting to know the ripple effects of the quake for me. Just like last week, when I checked with the AirBnB owner on the current status of the wildfires in Colorado near where we will be going in a few weeks (the fire is bad, and also might disrupt our trip, or not).

Oh, and for the other users of the forum asking the same question I asked (will my allocation be delayed), I can happily report that my allocation had already been put on a ship before the quake hit, so no delay in Japan for me--now wondering how the fires out west might affect rail transport from Portland to MN (and yes, I also feel bad for those impacted by the fires).
