Illuminated Grill Logo installation

Is it necessary to disconnect the vehicle battery prior to installation of the logo? A YouTube video shows this as the first step of the installation process. The logo gets power from the passenger side headlight assembly. So if the headlights are off there should be no power flow in that circuit. Thus no need to disconnect the battery. What am I missing?

I didn't when I installed.

Its good practice to disconnect the battery ground when messing with electrical, it takes 10 seconds. Even if the headlights are powered off, these are modern vehicles and may have CAN bus wires in that harness. Better be safe than sorry.

I never disconnected the battery when installing mine and it works flawlessly
