We took the 6th gen 4Runner on its first real adventure starting in Orange County, CA and headed up through Mammoth Lakes and Lake Tahoe where it was snowing, then followed the coast all the way to Forks, Washington. We came back down I-5 on the way home.
It was our first long trip in the new 4Runner and we were fully packed, so I was a little unsure at first. Once we got moving though, it felt solid right away and that nervous feeling went away fast.
The trip was a mix of snow, long highway days, elevation changes, fog, and a lot of time behind the wheel. The truck handled everything easily and never felt stressed, even loaded down. By the time we reached Forks, it just felt comfortable and easy to drive, which made the whole trip way more enjoyable.
One of my favorite moments was stopping along the Oregon Coast with the hatch open and the swing out open, just hanging out for a bit, when a bald eagle flew by while we were there. That moment alone made the trip feel really special.
A big reason it went so smoothly was the setup. We have been slowly building it with road trips and camping in mind, and this was the first time everything really got used.
