The OP is right. The paint isn’t very good. I have full ppf and had to touch up a few chips before getting it installed. My 2023 wrangler had better paint and didnt have one chip. It just had every other issue. I wish they wouldn’t cheap out on certain areas. The piano black screens, the paint, and lack of heated seat option for the sr5 are my only gripes.

I have a couple chips on the hood already (only 7K miles on the Pro). None where I PPF'd though, which are the fender flares, bumper, and front fascia. That's because in SoCal, we have a TON of large Semis on our freeways and debris on the roads/freeways.

I do my best to not follow closely and the moment I get close to a large truck or if a large truck pulls in front of me, I immediately switch lanes and get away from it as quickly as possible. Rock chips are bound to happen with the amount of traffic we have down here. Speeds are also high with cars averaging 70-80mph on freeways.

It is what it is. Don't follow closely, be aware of the environment and hope for the best. PPF does help but it doesn't make it bulletproof.

You're in Reno from what I can see. I have to believe the roads up there suck and with the amount of winter snow, dirt and mud, I can imagine rock chips will happen on a truck that is tall and pretty boxy.

Hey there. I don't have one is SoCal, but if there is a company owned XPEL store, I would check them out. They have good pricing and a fantastic product.
