Hypothetical retrofit digital rear view mirror

I was noticing the other day that there are some aftermarket rear bumpers that can assist with relocating the rear view camera in order to accomidate a swing out spare. If this bumper were to be installed and the rear camera relocated, could the camera for the digital rear view mirror be installed into the original position of the stock rear view and both systems would work just as the OEM tow package would on a stock vehicle? Anyone's thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

not sure how you can get 2 feeds onto a single connector and if you could how would the head unit know to split the view
