I bought a sunscreen and tried it in the 4Runner yesterday. After putting it in the windshield, I heard a long beep. After removing it and driving, the headlights come on and stay on when driving. No matter the time of day. The headlight switch is set to auto. Is there another setting I am missing? Prior to the sunscreen, the amber driving lights would be on at startup until dusk.

My guess is you either damaged (unlikely I think) or something is covering the sensor. I forget where it is located, but it says in the manual somewhere.

Think that's just how the DRLs are.

The headlights are on the cheaper sids far as LED go: no swivel feature, no auto leveling, and nodaytime "eyebrow".

Rather the main light just stays on at 80% power, which consumes its lifespan.

This was how my 2005 Volkswagen worked with halogens....

None the less, you can turn off the daytime main LED from the vehicle customization menu. Then only the amber will be on.

should be a half dome black nub along the leading edge of the windshield base (at least on the older models)

not sure if they moved to using the forward facing camera to determine that now.
