Absolutely. At the end of the day you are the one who has to pay for any repairs due to how you fill your vehicle. It's also your limited time on this planet. If filling up more often makes you feel more comfortable then that's what you should do. It's the same with what weight oil to use. or if you remove the tag from your mattress.
I always try to fill the tank up so I can see fuel after I'm done filling the tank. I've logged close to a million miles now doing so. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe I'm right. But there's the chance that if someone else follows my advice they may not be as fortunate. I have a background in automotive repair (even though never a professional mechanic) with a 2 post lift in my garage. If I have to replace it then I will.
My personal feeling is that evap canisters don't die very often. People replace them because they assume that's the problem. The purge valve is much more likely to be the cause. I have to believe that a garage is going to change both (and make more money) since they both have the same signs when they fail.
